WARNING Avoid Changegate Car Park, Haworth. Notorious for Clamping

 Would be nice to see his machines blown to pieces, but I don't think it would be worth the time in nick for making the phone call!
I believe super glue or expanding foam can have a detrimental effect on machinery! Not that I am condoning such scandalous behaviour!
Problem is if the machines were out of order, he would probably clamp everyone. Bring on the clamping ban, when he will have to offer a service, his only enforcement will be issuing invoices, which a court can decide if they are legitimate, rather then some maggot with a clamp penalising people!
Superglue would be a minor annoyance, and I wonder if the Chamber of trade DID put warning signs up at the entrance to Haworth, telling visitors to avoid Ted's moneymaking scam, would he take them to the High Court for a restraint of trade. He is without doubt a slippery person, but his day of reckoning will come.0 -
Would it be restraint of trade though, especially if the notices were based on factual evidence?"You should know not to believe everything in media & polls by now !"

The thing is whilst it's good of the town to put shops up in their windows you don't see them until AFTER you've parked....
Personally I don't see why they can't on the Bronte muesum website put under parking please park in such and such car parks. Then people know to only go for those particular car parks....
The problem is Changegate is one of the first car parks you come across...
Also hate to say but the henchmen can write they hand write the tickets as it is..... ;-(0 -
A sign saying something like this would be perfectly legal:
"Be aware that if you use Changegate car park you WILL be clamped if your ticket expires by 1 second or your wheels are only slightly beyond the cobbled markings. The clamp release fee is £xx. The car park has featured in a BBC documentary.
You may wish to consider these facts when deciding which car park to use. "0 -
Just been clamped by Tony Farnell of Carstoppers at the Changegate Car Park. I had my 2 year old daughter and 2 WEEK old son with me yet the lovely 'creature' that is Mr Farnell was still intimidating and aggressive.
We were clamped because our ticket had come unstuck from the window. Strange that it had also happened to around 5 other cars and we were lucky enough to be present when a few of the owners came back so have swapped details with them. Told to appeal to the company after having to shell out the £90 fine but it turns out the company is... Tony Farnell (don't understand why he wouldn't deal with our appeal there and then). Police were present...couldn't do anything. Looked into it on the web and realised that we are not going to get our money back so I'm now going to deal with this the only way I know how.... through social networking and raising as much as a stink against these prats as possible. I am just in the process of setting a facebook page up and I will be visiting other forums on the web to let everyone know. If anyone would like to join the page and join forces against these low lives then please pm me. Rant over. Still p****d off though!0 -
You can sue the landowner or and the agent plus the clamping scumExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?
They are all or have been suspended from accessing the DVLA database for gross misconduct!
Do you really need to ask what kind of people run parking companies?0 -
I'm just disheartened that I've spent nearly 2 hours scouring the internet about it and in 10 years of this going, it doesn't look like there has been anyone to claim money back against them or sue them successfully. The landowner is in on it all as I think he is also one of the owners of Car Stoppers.
All I can think is what comes around goes around.0 -
That is why you sue them both, the clamper will ignore they collect ccjs for fun, the landowner and agent has assets that you can levy againstExcel Parking, MET Parking, Combined Parking Solutions, VP Parking Solutions, ANPR PC Ltd, & Roxburghe Debt Collectors. What do they all have in common?

Just sue them. They count on people just writing it off to experience. What probably happens is that they agree to pay you off in return for no publicity. But if you paid your parking and they still took your money after you proved you had, the Judge is going to have no truck with them. Claim £200 in damages whilst you're at it.0
