My oldest son sat an online test last weekend for a perm position with the DWP AA/AO, he received his results today and have passed........
Apparentely its a new test, called SIFT, they are timed on 75 mins, and have 36 questions, apparentely reading on the DWP employment thread below they are rock solid, and they are phasing the old test out.
Am soooooo pleased.:T:TThe one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -

My son is still out of work and its not looking any better. I have said "again" about going to college for more studying but he will not. He is so down now about not working and not getting replies even for jobs. Its been over 12 months now although has had a few weeks here and there and signed on and then off and back on again.
I hate listening to people saying to young people to get up off your !!!! and work. Its just not as easy as that and I know. There just aren't the jobs to go around and he is at the funny age now of being too old for the apprenticeships again (he was on one and they finished him when he reached 21 but we took it to a tribunal and won) and being too under experienced for anything else. I really worry about him and this not working. It makes you further depressed in the end.0 -

As Marshallka has said times are tough at the moment and when people keep saying the young ones are lazy well that bugs me too.
My daughters friend has just finished uni and has qualified as a physio but can not get a job. It is so disheartening for them.
I wish your son all the best and hope this is good news for him0 -

Thanks Marshallka.:T:beer:
He did have an extended contract with the DWP, but only temp, for a perm position you have to undertake tests, he came out in April, they tried keeping him longer, but himself and some others were finished off, he heard from one of his supervisers about some jobs coming back up but on more of a perm basis, so he applied a little while back and the test was last weekend, he has to wait now for a phone call for an interview for when they do take on.
While he is waiting, he may have something to go on with, someone is on leave for a few weeks at the police dept, and my sister and nephew are trying to get him in there until he hears from DWP.;)
Good luck to your son Marshallka and yes I know what you mean, its not the fact of not wanting to work, its the fact of work being available.
Kids can be a worry can they? and we always hope they do better than us.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0 -
Marshallka, just received an email from petitions about Sandbag the dog, just wondered if you received yours as well?;)
Read the Government’s response
Thank you for the e-petition regarding Sandbag the dog who has been one of two mascot animals, along with Hesco the cat, living with our troops at the port of Umm Quasar, near Basra, in Iraq.
The Prime Minister visited Umm Quasar last December and announced that British combat troops would be withdrawing from Iraq in the first half of 2009. This means that the base in Umm Quasar where Sandbag and Hesco were living has now been handed over to American forces. Our US colleagues have assured us that both Sandbag and Hesco will be well cared for. Both are currently fit and healthy. As they had lived on the base since birth, British forces felt that staying there would be best for Sandbag and Hesco. Commanders on the ground always take decisions on the future of mascot animals on a case by case basis. The Government supports the decision taken in this case.

Thank you Showergirl.
It is very difficult, my son has quite a few A levels and a diploma in Computer mathematics and its very scarce, no matter what.
It is very disheartening and they work so hard for this don't they?
Good luck to your daughter's friend.;)The one and only "Dizzy Di"0
