http://www.guardian.co.uk/business/2011/jan/04/desire-petroleum-abandons-falklands-well
although seriously how they found oil and then water needs an investigation what a shambles and someone needs to be brought to account here !!!
even RKH is alot more riskier than it should be, no infrastruture in falklands, additional costs, they managed to bungle there reservoir size
ironically to through a conspiracy theory how come DES are hitting al these dusters and RKH are sitting on the only well find in the area ???
My advice
AVOID FI explorers !!!0 -
Blinko the stock guru
Sounds like good reasoning, cant tell the future but good to weigh up the risks at least. Ive heard much the same said elsewhere, North sea oilers have better support and likely are better value. Wish I'd taken up EO or Premier, I looked at bothsilversurfer wrote: »
premier oil looks like it could break out. now owner of oil field with 800m barrels in north sea http://yfrog.com/j2img12779856440484573828g
Chart looks good to me, triangle with support from 200dma (orange line)0 -

there is still time with encore, wait till they retrace to around 140p to get in, but they have 2 more drills left, i think they will be ptu up for for sale, i should've been in them i had a SB on them for a small amount at 111 and i got bored and closed it after around 10 points feeling very pleased with myself same with todays FTSE, got up early got in early at 5880 got out at 5600 then saw it retrace to 5880 again and watched it hit 6330 beellurrgghhh anyway tomrorow it willall come back to reality anyway i will be back
further north sea exposure, nautical pertrolium, ithaca energy IAE, of coursre XEL
north sea is fast becoming a hot topic,
another future north sea explorer will be PMG but that is a long way down the road0 -

I've been looking at Des, I was pretty sure they wouldn't find anything, a report I read said they had about a 7% chance finding something in the current drill.
However the way I see it is that they are a few steps closer to finding oil and no doubt future drilling attempts will push the stock higher so I've made a small punt of a couple of thousand shares at 36p.0 -

Is there any danger in buying foreign stocks trading in pounds. I see cisco but its shown in pounds which in theory is all the same to me and the spread seems ok.

Im not sure why the price hasnt updated today. So just checking these things are liquid first0 -
I bought my US stocks in pounds, there is a small hit on the exchange rate margin but other than that it's fine. The other issue is the buy and sell prices aren't normally guaranteed because it takes a bit longer to complete.
I'm pretty certain Cisco will come good but it could potentially take a year or 2 to fully recover to where it should be (around $27 in todays terms).
My other current US stock AMD has started to move, up around 7% over the last couple of days. Much riskier than Cisco but also much bigger upside.0 -

Not sure how those work actually, and it should be noted notonly has it not updated today, it did not update yesterday, as it shows price for 31st close. US markets were open yesterday.Hope for the best.....Plan for the worst!
