So do I target the overdraft or the CC? They're both with the same bank so it doesn't really matter probably. The overdraft has a higher rate than the purchase rate on the CC. But I've also taken cash out on the CC which has higher interest than anything else.

So should I do the CC or the overdraft first? Think I want to stick with the overdraft. I'm hoping to get it paid off this month if all goes well.

Thanks for listening to my rant. :o

I still hate those banks!

  • I just realised I made a huge mistake with my budget this month and stupidly forgot to add in two sources of income. So thankfully I now have enough to pay the bills and a proper budget for petrol (instead of the ridiculously small one I go over every month).

I'm still short of the total I want to pay off this month by about £150. Let's hope the scratchies and matched bets come through.

As of next month I should be able to throw every spare penny at that horrible abbey/santander card.

I'm grand. It's been snowing and sleeting a bit here too...way too cold to be running around in the streets unless you had 15 jumpers on and a hot water bottle tied to your belly!

Not much to report on the debt front except that I bought a huge cake today for £3.90 (am I mad??!). I went into a bakers to buy a pastie (36p...can't go wrong) and saw this big, yummy looking cake. I was in a sweat handing over the cash but oh my god it tasted good. OH has hardly got a look in, I've munched most of it myself. I'm trying to ignore the fact that I could have made it myself for about 50p. :o

We're in a selling frenzy here. Got £25 for the tv and dvd and OH just sold something for £40. Also got a £90 bill I wasn't expecting so it's all the usual up and down. Am really hoping to hit my target this month but we'll see.

I had a sad moment when I thought how life would be without this debt. We'd actually be reasonably well off. I've paid off nearly £2k recently. I could have bought a holiday with that! In my dreams...

Keep on going everyone. It can only get better.

  • Thanks lou. :D

For some reason I'm feeling really fed up with it all today. I have to check the bank accounts every day at the minute as cash is coming in slowly during the month and I need to make sure the DDs are covered. It's such a bore sometimes. I'd love to have a personal assistant to deal with all this for me. :rotfl:

Why can't I win £10k in a competition and just pay the whole lot off? Wouldn't that be great?

Think I'll go back to bed and lie there all afternoon watching tv. Best idea I've had in a while.

Keep on going everyone. Surely it'll end at some point?

Today I got a letter from SRJ Debt Recoveries saying I have failed to respond to previous correspondance, have therefore been traced to my current residence and can I please contact them immediately.

As far as I know, I only have debt on 2 CCs and my overdraft at the moment. For a fleeting moment I thought abbey had passed me on to a debt collector for cancelling my CC. I could feel steam starting to come out of my ears.

So I phoned them up and it turns out it's from tiscali for a contract I had at my old address over 2 1/2 years ago. At the time, I talked to them to say I was moving, told them where I was going, discussed taking the contract with me and learned that I couldn't because OH already had one at the new house. So it got cancelled and I paid the balance and that was that.

Now suddenly they get in touch claiming I owe them £53.02 which they'll accept £41.94 as full and final settlement. So I know it's not the end of the world and will not break the bank but really, are they allowed to do this? I've written a letter asking for evidence and saying they'll get no payment until I have proof. But they could make something up couldn't they?

I'm so annoyed. Anyone had any experience of this happening? Have I done the right thing? It's also interesting that we've just ended our Tiscali contract in OH's name. What are they up to?

Another carp letter to spoil my morning. No wonder I'm fed-up.

  • Hi naefags. Sorry you got a carp letter too. I'm so sick of it all. Maybe I need a break from debt busting. I can't imagine how those people in for the long haul manage it. I couldn't cope with years of this. I really couldn't.

    Resolution 1: Stop complaining
Resolution 2: Be grateful I have cash to pay the bills. Things could be a lot worse.
Resolution 3: Eat lots of chocolate. (tesco value, 27p a bar, bargain:D)
