we always used to watch Grandstand at my Grandad's. I remember Des Lyham and watching the crowd. not really getting it at first and then saying to Mum, oh God people are dying and her telling me not to be silly I was really upset. I distinctly remember thinking its a foot ball match why can't they just move, all the space on the pitch.Poor people. wanted to go home to my Dad.
and then we did go home and it was all over the news. Dad didn't want me to watch it. God I do miss my Dad.
phew. don't where all that come from.
:grouphug: for buffy.. funny where these memories come from sometimes.....I'm just a seething mass of contradictions....(it's part of my charm!)0 -

No love lost between me and the press. When I worked for BCAL I helped on the emergency team that brought the survivors of the Herald of Free Enterprise back. The press would lie/cheat/say anything to get access to the bereaved/survivors..I didn't realise how low they would stoop till I saw a reporter physically push an old lady to the floor just because he'd get a better view if she wasn't there ..ditto all over again when we brought the Iran hostages home...Debt-free...and staying that way...0
