How to get back on the credit ladder

Thanks for the info!
I've signed up to review my files online, expensive but allows me to make sure the creditors I defaulted with have updated the entries on my file (set to satisfied, correct default date etc). It has taken me about 10 months now to get all the entries across all 3 reports sorted so that the default date on every entry is 28/05/03, the start of my IVA.
I'll log on and check on 29/05/09 to make sure all the default entries have dissappeared, I've had a mobile phone and cap one card for the last two years and not missed any payments on those so I should have some good solid payment history behind me too.
Keeping my fingers crossed and thanks again for the A1 info!0 -

Well done, you've got it clued to a 'T'...... basically you've done the right things by building credit in anticipation - make sure you apply for nothing from now until your mortgage as this can affect the decision - especially as mortgages are notoriously hard to get right now!
Good luck - if the deafults are still there after the 29th then email in to alert the CRA's that you want them removing - if they don't then PM me and i'll post a template letter threatening enforcement for you. They will then remove the incorrect data within a matter of days - they always do!
Remember to also check Court Data and Notice of Correction text has been removed from your files....

I know NOC are a pain, but why do they a hindrance not a help?0 -
General question: -
Do you think CCJ's which are nearly 6 years old are really that bad?0 -
I found this board and have read pretty much all I can absorb regarding repairing my credit file, its been a long slog and highlighted how inaccurate credit files can be and how little the people you talk to at the CRA's and creditors credit control departments actually know about default dates, satisfied vs settled accounts etc. If I had just let things slide and not bothered, my file would have been full of defaults for YEARS.
Anyhow, I didn't have any CCJ's, went from defaults to IVA, so kind of lucky there.
My IVA is only recorded on my Call Credit file, it is not mentioned on my Experian or Equifax files, no idea why this is as I thought Call Credit was supposed to be the least updated of the three. The date for my IVA is recorded correctly so I'm expecting it to come off on time, if not, then I wont be very pleased!0 -

Yes, 100% as they will always be pulled from a search and will flag as manual intervention - i.e. an underwriter needs to complete the check and why would an underwriter with a reputation take the risk of signing you off with a credit limit that you may not repay....2010 - year of the troll

A NOC basically means that automated decisions cannot be made and to be honest as a result, most underwriters will reject anyway as point in post above clearly states....2010 - year of the troll

CCJ applications don't always refer though.0 -

What happens after 3 years then? Just a decline, that doesn't make much sense to me.0
