'ello Wordsmith - I thought I ought to pop by as you were kind enough to put your head around the door of my thread earlier! Kitten sounds adorable, but for your sake I hope that he is now safely away with the cat lady and will be finding a new home shortly. :)

Ah, now here's the thing. Kitten-STILL-with-no-name (because I am not going to get attached to him and want to keep him) hasn't left yet because cat lady didn't turn up. He is much better today, though. Still sneezing, but his eyes are no longer glued together.

  • oh Wordsmith I almost daren't read in here at the moment - a 2 year old blue whippet who is in need of a home has popped onto our family's radar, and me and my mum have skipping stomachs :( between us in the last few years we have rescued 3 greyhounds - 2 from an RGT home and one from the middle of the road as she had been dumped.

Mum's whippet is the only pedigree pooch we have ever owned and she has been asking the universe for another whippet (although she wanted a puppy really) - thing is she asked for next summer not this one :rotfl: he can't come to me as needs to be with other dogs.

But I share the feeling of 'I wish I could keep him/her' and I know how much soul searching is going on. Good luck with it and I hope KSWNN gets better and doesn't cost too much or spread the lurgy around x

ETA - was in fits at the thought of the paw prints everywhere!

I always think things happen for a reason. If an animal comes into your life (and in Wordsmiths case doesn't appear to be going anywhere) then perhaps, just perhaps, it is meant to be.
I remember back to the days when MrT was advertised on a rehoming site - I ummed and aahed about enquiring, decided not to, and then regretted it when the advert diasppeared. Then - 3 weeks later, he was back on the site again. Yet another of his previous homes had given up on him and he was returned and readvertised. The rest is history - he was with me within 3 days. And despite the bumpy road - we have settled into a very happy little partnership.
Just go with the flow.... life is so much better when you don't dwell, I think..

I always think things happen for a reason, too - even when you can't see what the reason is.

Perhaps the reason kitten-with-no-name came into my life FOR A SHORT TIME is to test my resolve and to make me spend €35 at the vet.

I'm not dwelling. Everyone except me thinks I am going to keep him.

My stars in today's Examiner newspaper: "You are pulled between needing to get out to do something exciting and isolating yourself from the rest of the world by staying home. But neither extreme will be possible since you probably have weekend chores to do today. Be careful or you could end up misleading yourself."

Ooh, I doubt it. How lucky I don't believe in the stars. Would be nice to be staying at home today, though, or out walking on the Burren (which is as exciting as it gets for me).
