Eeeek that's bad!!
Glad we haven't got a sports model then. So to the OP, if you do look at Mazda 5's don't get a sports one!!
Apart from the tyre issue which hopefully we haven't got a problem with, I love the car and trying to currently persuade hubby that he really suits the Yaris and its ideal for him to use to get to work, thereby leaving me with the mazda :rotfl:0 -

Tell him he can have the Mazda if he's going to do all the school & afterschool runs. Pure & simple the car goes with the kids!!! Not to be wasted on luxuries such as driving yourself to work & back in peace & quite :rotfl:0 -
My feelings exactly :rotfl:0

We had a Touran for 3 years. How old are your kids? There is very little 'boot space' when all 7 seats are up, so potentially a problem if you are still in pushchair stage. The 2nd row has a 'tunnel' on the floor, so if you are tall enough to reach the floor and sat in the middle of the 2nd row it can make for uncomfortable sitting. I found the very back row of seats uncomfortable and would not use them for older than mid-teens.
We had no problems with the car mechanically. I loved all the hidey holes for putting stuff in.0 -
My issue with the back rows is that many of the cars airbags etc don't go all the way back. There was that horrific accident on the motorway a while back with a Ford Galaxy i think, where everyone walked away with scratches except the kids in the back to seats that were killed outright.
I also get a bit freaked out by some of the seven seaters when you look how very close the heads of the passengers in the back row are to rear windowscreen.
If I knew of a 7seater that had the same airbags/safety etc for the back row as the front row, then that car would get instantly shifted up my list.0 -

Apparently the new model Versos include curtain airbags for third row passengers

although I've also read that curtain airbags are not always effective for kids (being short and therefore not reaching the airbag) so you'd have to ask detailed questions about this. They deem him their worst enemy who tells them the truth. -- Plato0 -
How old is you mazda? Absolutely great car but the Sport TDI is prone to a particular type of tyre problem that wears the insides of the tyres away unevenly and dangerously. Check the insides of the back tyres, and if you've got uneven wear then demand a realignment from the dealership. They are supposed to have called all cars in for this, but I know that this is patchy to say the least.
It's something you need to monitor permanently. Don't buy cheap tyres.
tyre wear is a problem on ours for sure. it's the only problem. (apart from the dings and dents and scratches from heavy use).
a second hand one though, with low miles is a steal, their values drop like stones.Remember the time he ate my goldfish? And you lied and said I never had goldfish. Then why did I have the bowl Bart? Why did I have the bowl?0 -

This is reported as a fault on the Toyota owners website
With no load in the boot, set that adjustment to it's highest level and then go out and adjust the aim height as described earlier. You will find screws, probably 4, one each corner, on the back of the headlight which are intended for adjusting the aim.0 -
Took delivery of my verso today - lovvvverrly!!!
Wasnt quite prepared for how few hidey places it has compared to my old sceinic though. I have filled my old hidey places with 'necessary' car stuff - first aid kit, reflective jacket, triangle, nappies and inflatable hula hoop!
I will have to declutter.
I am missing especially the floor cupboards and those fantasic ones under the back seats!!0 -
