    Streetgirl74, you've attempted biscuits (and even know you can make them) means you can't be the worlds worst cook ;) good effort, I hope you've just attacked them and broken them down for now. Receipes I have say about 6 or 7 to a tray. It never seems like many but they seem to take the space! Hope that helps. I'm not sure if the biscuits are meant to be thick or thin, I'd go for personal choice though! Experiment with them and remember how you did it when you find your preferred method!!!

    Oh no you are not!!! You simply make large cookies ;) ((hugs))

    Try not to squidge them down too much with the fork and you really do need to leave plenty of space between them.

    You could try my recipe, not that much different ingredientwise, they don't tend to spread quite so much as the recipe you are trying and because they are sliced from a roll rather than fork squidged they are easier to handle in the initial stages. But, if you do make mine, bear in mind that for the first few moments when they come out of the oven they will be very soft so give it a moment or two before you try to lift them off the tray onto a cooling rack and then they will crisp beautifully :D

    I did sort of cut them up into square biscuits in the end and my dd and dh loved them so will be making them again!
    Just one more question......do you leave them in until they are brown ish or take them out when they are still soft to the touch? Mine were all crumbly on the bottoms but brown ish on the top and i left them in the oven for about 20mins, is that to long and over cooked do you think?

    Aww, bless - see! They loved them not matter what shape/size they were :D:D

    Sounds a wee bit too long. If you imagine shortbread or say, a rich tea-style biscuit they are a pale colour only.

    The recipe you followed (from memory) states about 10 minutes-ish? So, they should be pale in colour and still a bit soft. Take them out of the oven but keep them on the baking tray for just a few moments to let the air cool them slightly and, while still warm but not hot, transfer them to a wire rack to completely cool. They will soon firm up to a biscuit 'crispness' :):D

    Right have tried again and left them in for just over 10 mins as they were starting to brown at the edges, they were biscuit like around the edges but soft in the middle! Have i not left them in long enough now :confused:
    DD and i are going to have another try this afternoon as i am determined to get them right!

    Were they soft when cooled? Many biscuits need to cool before they crisp up.
