Chosing the sex of a baby

On the plus side, My cousin had 2 boys, then a girl, then another boy!
Her dd was such a tom boy until she reached about 10, only then did she start to like and do proper 'girlie' things :rotfl:.
I have a ds and a dd, dont know if it's something to do with heriditary genes or something, my eldest sister had a ds, dd, then another ds, my youngest sister has a ds, dd and is expecting a third - due sept (so according to the above theory she will have a boy). My brother's girlfriend has not long had their baby, a boy. So all of us had a boy first, then a girl. How freaky is that  :rotfl:My beloved dog Molly27/05/1997-01/04/2008RIP my wonderful stepdad - miss you loads:Axxxxxxxxx:Aour new editionsSenna :male: and Dali :female: both JRT0 -
LOL the OP was not obtuse with me or any others who did not quite agree with her slant on things yet you see the need to be. Stop making this an argument when its not.I really have nothing else to say to be honest. You are obviously too engrossed in your own little world where you are correct and nobody else can possibly be.
I do wish the OP all the best and I think she will have got that sentiment from my posts, I just question why, thats all!
I am sure if she relayed her thoughts in the 'real world' people may offer all sorts of opinons.
If OP assesses why she really wants a girl and how she feels about the whole thing then she will be more prepared when she has the baby (boy OR girl).
I understand it may simply be a biological desire but the last thing I would want her to feel is unhappy when a bouncing healthy baby boy emerges.
Enough said on this, OP I am not fighting against you, just putting another perspective. I really hope you see this.Ermutigung wirkt immer besser als Verurteilung.

There is some evidence to suggest that XX sperm is heavier and swims more slowly, but lives longer than XY sperm, which is lighter and faster, but doesn't live as long. Sooo, if you are able to time conception so that the longer living XX sperm are greater in number than the XY's (which should have died off in greater numbers by days 5-8) then you can up your chances of having a girl.
The method is clearly inexact, but might be worth a go!
The above is the only method I have heard to be half worth a go
You need to know your cycle well to time this right though!
I have a boy and a girl and my ex husband has 3 sisters and I have 2 sisters so I'm not sure whether this would have any bearing on future offspring?!
Good luck OP0 -
I think it's a harmless question and something I'd probably be asking myself if I'd had 2 of the same gender and wanted a different gender.
My mother had 2 girls, then tried once more for a boy (although would obviously have been very happy with a girl) and ... she got the boy! 7 years later she got pregnant by accident (antibiotics and on the pill) and ... she had another boy. It's been great having a sister and 2 brothers.
My OH has 2 sisters and says he always wanted a brother. Although, on the other side of it, he does seem to be very in-tune to the way us women work and I do wonder if that's the result of 2 older sisters.
I have a friend who is the most girlie woman I know (very pink and glittery and feminine) and she has 3 boys. It seems such a shame! She obviously loves them to bits, but I always wonder if she wishes she'd had a girl to be girlie with. Again though, perhaps her girliness is a result of living with 4 males!Thrilled to be DEBT-FREE as of 26.03.10

A lighthearted thread has somehow turned into a bit of a battle again methinks..........at the end of the day as stated its the bloke who determines the sex of the babe....perhaps you could hire somebody who has had loads of girls......
"second hand stud wanted for guaranteed daughter, apply within!"
Good luck anyway, all babes are a gift from god and i'm sure whatever you have will be cherished. If you're not sure where you're going, you'll probably end up somewhere else.......:D0 -
I don't agree that the sex of a baby is just down to the bloke. I have two ds's and I think that I am one of those people [STRIKE]condemned [/STRIKE]destined to just have boys. This is because I'm fairly sure that both times I concieved just after my TOTM which is when you are normally told you are safe. lol - therefore I am theoretically ovulating in week one of my cycle instead of week two/three giving the quick swimmy ones (ie the boys) an advantage as the "stick around long lived" ones from before get flushed out!
I think they suit me better anyway so it's probably for the best.! :T
Same here, I ovulate very early. I'd read about the timing thing (shettles method) on here, and because I know when I ovulate I knew my baby would be a boy. When I went for my 12 week dating scan the sonographer said I was 14 weeks pregnant, which tallied with my early ovulation, and I said then that it was a boy. She didn't seem convinced, but I reminded her at my 20 week scan that I'd known it was a boy
I don't think I could have a girl, for the reasons you say.
My GP says it's not common to ovulate so early though, but I feel it every time and with both of my children the dating scan's said I'm ten days more pregnant, so I conceived on day 4 instead of 14.
One other reason for having boys that I read about is having a short erm, whatever they call it - the bit the sperm travels up before getting to the cervix. I can't remember where I read it, but apparently some women are quite short in that area, so the boy sperm are more likely to win the race. I don't know if that's true or not though.
For people who ovulate after week 1 in their cycle it should be possible to try for a girl. Good luck trying anyway, and if you don't know when you ovulate there are kits you can use (there was a thread about mucus somewhere too lol!)52% tight0
