Chosing the sex of a baby

I already have 2 beautiful boys who I adore and me and OH have decided to try for number 3. Ideally we would like to have a girl just so we get a mix.

I was just wondering has anyone ever tried any of the things to help conceive a cetain sex and if so did it work?

Please understand that if we have a boy he will be loved and wanted I'm just curios

You will find many old wives tales if you google, so should amuse you for a while if nothing else.

Nothing you do can determine sex, as its the chromozones from the man that decide the sex.

I have two boys and have just had a girl but I think it was just pot luck.

My friend had two boys and tried everything to have a girl for their third.

    She had a boy.

you cannot determine the sex, you get what you're given.

  • The only way to up your chances of a boy/girl semi-scientifically, is through timing the conception. Eggs live for about 48 hours, and sperm can last up to 8 days ish. There is some evidence to suggest that XX sperm is heavier and swims more slowly, but lives longer than XY sperm, which is lighter and faster, but doesn't live as long. Sooo, if you are able to time conception so that the longer living XX sperm are greater in number than the XY's (which should have died off in greater numbers by days 5-8) then you can up your chances of having a girl.

The method is clearly inexact, but might be worth a go!

What i heard is that if your man's testosterone levels are low its a better chance getting a girl?

So make him paint his nails, put on high heels and listen to girl songs beforehand. Might increase chances.

    Lol Guccimane.

It's predetermined by the man's sperm, so if his family are mostly boys, you will probably get boys. Unfortunately there really is nothing you can do about it.

As I said - 'clearly inexact', but it remains the only way of increasing your chances of having an influence on the gender. There is also the additional problem that many men do not produce equal numbers of male and female sperm. It might just be that your friend's partner produces mainly sperm of one gender.

A close friend of mine tried carefully timing things, changing her diet to change her pH etc etc, everything she could. She's just had her 4th boy. Very very few girls born on her hubby's side of the family.

A friend of my sisters is going to Cyprus in June to have selective IVF... Her first attempt in November failed... I think it's ridiculous myself...
A very proud Mummy to 3 beautiful girls... I do pity my husband though, he's the one to suffer the hormones...
Krystal is so smart and funny and wonderful I am struck dumb in awe in her presence.
