Chosing the sex of a baby

Wasn't intentional, but this is how we ended up with a boy and a girl. I agree it's not exact, (i've seen a post on this forum from someone who tried this method and it didn't work)but maybe worth trying as a bit of fun, as long as you're not going to be dissappointed if it doesn't work out.milliebear00001 wrote: »The only way to up your chances of a boy/girl semi-scientifically, is through timing the conception. Eggs live for about 48 hours, and sperm can last up to 8 days ish. There is some evidence to suggest that XX sperm is heavier and swims more slowly, but lives longer than XY sperm, which is lighter and faster, but doesn't live as long. Sooo, if you are able to time conception so that the longer living XX sperm are greater in number than the XY's (which should have died off in greater numbers by days 5-8) then you can up your chances of having a girl.
The method is clearly inexact, but might be worth a go!0 -
It depends when you conceive during ovulation. The XX (girl) sperms are the "long distance runners" and can go on for longer, while the XY (boy) sperms are the "spinters" and therefor don't last as long. If you have intercourse in the days leading up to ovulation the male sperms are more than likely to wear themselves out and not reach the egg. If however you have intersourse on the day of ovulation or for a few days after then the male sperms will make a mad dash to the egg and maybe get their first.
So in your case I would have intercourse during the 5 days leading up to ovulation but not on the day of ovulation iteslf, to give the female sperms more chance of getting to the egg.
I tried this with my 2nd child, my first was a boy and we ended up having a girl.
I wish you good luck.I used to suffer from lack of motivation.... now I just can't be arsed.

If it were me, I'd think to myself 'We are going to have another little boy'. Go through the whole process of concieving and pregnancy thinking of your baby as a 'boy'. Look at lovely boys clothes in the shops and just go full steam ahead with the 'boy' thing. Then, if you have a boy you'll not be disappointed as it was what you had imagined you'd have all along. But, if you do end up having a girl it will be a little bonus.
Hope it all goes well xxx0 -

If you want another baby go ahead, if you want a girl perhaps best not to bother.Posts are not advice and must not be relied upon.0

I think in 99% of cases people are grateful, but sometimes think it would be nice if we had a boy/girl.
I would have loved a little boy when I was pregnant with my 5 month old, but still had a few tears of joy when we went through a CSF test and were told it was a healthy girl. She is adored and treasured just as she is, no less than a little boy would have been. We are at 5 kids between us now so it's time to stop :rotfl::A

It is extremely tragic that your son died, but your situation has no bearing on the OPs, nor does it mean she is in some way 'ungrateful' for the children she has/might have. The OP has already stated that any baby she had would be 'loved and wanted', but that if she can increase her chances of a girl then she would give it a go. I think many parents would like the 'experience' of having both sexes - it doesn't mean they love the children they end up with any less.0

Surely just because somebody is asking how to inrease their chances of having a child of a particular sex doesn't mean that they are ungrateful/ don't consider themselves lucky to be able to have children. I don't think that the OP means that haing another boy will be in any way a bad thing, and if anything, the question should be taken as a bit of 'fun', and any advice should just be suggestions for how others managed to conceive rather than people making her feel bad.0

I have 4 boys and as much as I have always wanted a girl, I wouldn't change this for the world. It is absolute chaos at times but I love every second of it.Slimming World - 3 stone 8 1/2lbs in 7 months and now at target :j0
