Pulled my head back out from the sand with gritted teeth

OK, updates........I've just booked the car in for its MOT and they can do it tomorrow afternoon _pale_ It's not failed for the 2 previous ones in the time I've had it but it is P reg so I guess at some point there will be stuff to go wrong, let's just hope it's not this year as the tax also runs out the end of this month.

Workwise, I guess I don't have an interview for the Student Support Manager post, it's 2 weeks since it closed and there are no other jobs that I've applied for and nothing else is pending etc but it is jobs day tomorrow in the paper.

I was supposed to be starting extra hours for my admin job yesterday until September as we are really busy, about 10-12 hours per week. Cuts in budget means that's now not happening :(

At work, there is going to be an 18.5 project co-ordinator post advertised which I may be able to work alongside my 18.5 current admin post. Totalled, the 2 salaries will be about £17,500 so a half decent leap but still not quite enough to make things even - I'll still need to do teaching etc. So even more hours just to stand still  but at least it will guarantee I don't have to use my savings and much, much less on AQA

I was only supposed to be invigilating 1 exam this month, but was asked to do 1 last night and another tonight. I've also been asked to do 2 short exams next week. All in, it will be around 10 hours, so not enough to make up for the lack of teaching this month as end of term looms and courses tail off until September.

I sent back some bits to Evans I bought in the sale, so will have a small credit on one of the cards I've just cleared when I transferred to LoB. I think it will be around £15-£20, not sure how I'll get that back. Perhaps I'll have to ask for a cheque or spend it on something.

I am also getting another £100 refund to a cleared CC, which was a surprise. I had an email today about it. I'm a bit erm.........embarrassed to say what it was for :o:o:o because it was a really stupid act of impulse last October involving something really stupid - money wise (don't worry, it wasn't sent to a Prince in Nigeria in return for 5 million dollars or anything! :rotfl:). I thought the money was well and truly gone because other similar 'events' have fallen through it seems and those involved haven't had a refund. However it seems this guy has refunded those involved! It means I'll also have that £100 to come back to me in some way. To be honest, it would be best if it could go straight back to my bank, but something in the back of my head says they don't - they send cheques for refunds.....I'll phone and ask when it appears, but both amounts will be very gratefully received!!

right, head back in the sand for a few days........it is getting a bit tiresome being this close to the edge with no end in sight at the moment, but I just have to keep going.

Nice to see you BB - glad you're feeling better.

There shouldn't be any problem getting a refund of a credit balance on a credit card, I had one earlier this year & they transferred the amount into my bank account when I rung up & reqested it, I was given the choice of cheque or transfer directly to my bank account - so went for the latter, although for some bizarre reason it took 10 working days

I can't :o You'd beat me with the stupid pan :oI entered one of those house raffles at the end of last year which started to spring up where you bought a ticket or as many as you wanted and the prize was a house someone couldn't sell. They all ended up going down the drain as being deemed illegal gambling by the Gambling law people and most people haven't had a refund. I had a £100 ticket for a £455k house in Hampshire which got 'stuck' at £67k worth of tickets and they had their paypal account frozen . That's not the stupidest thing I've ever done financially (that award definitely goes to buying Northern Rock shares just before they went tits up and losing the money) but it's close :o

it is beanie. I had forgotten about it to be perfectly honest and then I read up on another one and thought - oh well, beat myself up and don't do anything so inanely stupid again so it was a nice surprise to get the refund.
