Wow 20% tanning, I'd be too scared for that!
I understand why you would feel like that, I started off on 12% from cs and although it was lovely I soon got used to it and wanted a bit extra ooomph (technical term;)) also as funkypumpkin and others have said on here its all down to skin tone, meaning yellow or pink toned and level of paleness for example the paler you are without colour you will be tanned but a lighter tan than someone with a darker/more yellow skin tone. Layering is a way to get a darker colour with a lower % and gives a lot more control if you are wary:) Also a problem I have come across with higher % products is how they fade (not that I see much fading on me:rotfl:)they can fade in patches or make your skin very dry unless you top up regularly again its a skin tone personal prefereance thing.
I havn't said this for a while but don't forget its only fake tan, while no one wants to look silly or waste money if it goes wrong or your not happy it will be gone in a few days with a few simple steps and as FelinePrincess suggested you can water down if you find the higher % not suited to you, winter is a great time to experiment:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
By layering, do you mean applying a tan, showering off the guide, then repeating?0

Hi, yes thats what I do, I reapply a thin layer of 16% every other day when I want to look extra dark I have layered colour guides as well leaving a couple of hours in between but although this looks good for a day or two it fades really patchy and when you do have a shower its like your back to square one agian:rolleyes:layering colour guide I would suggest is only for special occasions - hth:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0 -
Just wanted to check what you meant as I know that layering without washing it off can cause uneven fading (and often makes no difference to the colour because it's the guide you're putting on, so you're using twice the product for little point).
But you obviously know all that!0 -
Had a super duper tan session last night and am very very cheerful today:D I've said it before but I'm sure having a colour has a psychological effect - Hope everyone is well and getting on ok:DThank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Do any of you NOT wash off the Siennasol Extreme color guide? I find that the color looks nice and brown with the color guide on, but when I wash it off, I'm orange in natural sunlight. Keep in mind, I'm very pale naturally. Practically translucent. And my pale skin looks horrendous on me. It just doesn't suit. I've been an ST junkie ever since I was 13. I'm never not wearing self tanner. I've tried just almost every sunless tanner there is. None ever gets me dark. St. Tropez, Fake Bake, Mystic, Model Co., and other "higher end" ST's give me very subtle color. Even with four or five applications. I always have to spray Aero Tan (basically a wash-off body bronzer) on top to look like I have a tan. Siennasol is the first self tanner that's gotten me dark with one or two applications. The only problem is when I wash off the color guide, the color goes from brown to orange
I imagine I could wear it with the color guide on, in that it doesn't stink, and it isn't sticky or streaky. I'd have to re-apply after every shower, though.

Hi Exotick, welcome:) I often leave my colour guide on for as long as possible, why dont you try and layer every other day then at any one time your should have at least 2 layers of product on btw I am also as pale as they come but am never without a colour:) Vey thin layers regularly should give consistant tanning and no orange:)Thank you for this site MartinThe time for change has comeGood luck for the future0

Yeah, I applied two very thick layers. That might be why it ended up orange. Because it definitely wasn't orange before the second application. I'm used to applying ST's with a heavy hand.0

Wow what a great thread! Can't believe I haven't read it before.
So I had a big trawl through the thread last night and I have ordered the Siennasol! Was dispatched today so should be here soon, can't wait to try it. Got a bit of a cold at the mo so a lovely glowing tan should cheer me upI normally use Fake Bake so will appreciate the money I'll be saving when I get this.
Anyway I went for the Bronze instead of Extreme as I was a bit scared about how dark I might be lol. Will be using the mitts and glove methods and think I will have to get one of those loofah style sponges you have all been raving about. Will report back on how I get on!0
