i have already said to my pregnant friend i will have her handme downs! im sure the grnadparents to be will be buying us lots too, which we will need the help really! we have just decorated spare room a light lilacy colour, will leave it for now though, if its a girl then itll be fine, if its a boy we will add blue accessories!

will ask the doc about egypt but i think i will be glad of 2weeks at home as i will be working on hospatal wards 40hrs a week from may to sept..we will see..

i think we will tell our parents on thurs after i have been to the docs, but not tell all the family and friends yet (famous last words...) we have another p**s up wkend with the family, and a meal tonite, my mum and dad will soon wander why im not guzzling wine...
think will let my brother leave though and not steal his thunder and then ring him in a couple of weeks and tell him, we can always book a flight over to see them once he has settled in. i did want to tell him but also want him to have his moment of leaving, too..

thanks again every1 im kind of happy now but still thinking "nah ill come on soon...... this cant be right...."

firned said they dont do tests now at docs if you have done a home one? also she asked for a dating scan, hopefully they will give me one too. will have to remember all these things to ask the doc!

Oh, and you might want to pop into the Old Style board - not just for tips about bringing up babies on a budget, but because you'd be the third person in two weeks to announce that they're expecting!

all the doc said did u do a home test , yes i said and he said thats good enough for me. but he said if u want i can get a test done, which i did ask for , as i needed it to make it sink in more.
  • Egypt....hmm. i dont know, would be ok to travel (i think) but we owe another £750 and then there is spend, aslo it will be HOT in july and dont think i want to sweat it out really! will speak to the doctor though,. i think it is more money we are thinking really..save the hol money we will need it!
Emma, I think the difficulty with having a foreign holiday booked and then discovering you're pregnant is that it's impossible to tell how you will be feeling when holiday time arrives. Egypt is quite a long haul tacked onto the time at the airport before takeoff which can be worse than expected if there's a delay (my Egypt flight was delayed by 6 hours a couple of years ago and Egyptian airports can be pretty basic).
    Hope this helps.

i would be 6mths when we go to egypt...like i said its the cost of it too, and then the the clothes and all the rest, i would rather save the money and put it aside for things we will need. also i would be a huge fat thing in a bikini in front of 8 of my friends...not keen really! they are(we were!) going on a mates p**s up holiday and i would be the wet lettuce!

    Hi emma_b

Congratulations- have to say the only time I ever felt good in a bikini on the beach is when i was pregnant- it is the one time society allows you to have a big belly so enjoy it, just make sure someone checks you for spiders if you cant see over your tummy.

    Hi Emma
Just had to say congrats - I too have just found out I'm pregnant. I'm still in shock as it was 'incidental' as the doctors say. I'm due on 4th Nov. I've told a few ppl straight away and I think I'm gonna have to tell work soon too as I'm feeling pretty rough with it.
    Good luck :)

Theres 2 ways you could look at your Egypt holiday. You could look at it as being the last blow out before parenthood, have a great time (within reason), relax and make the most of not having to do anything before all the sleepless nights, sore boobs and sitting on a ring starts. Or if you are going to be anything like me I couldnt handle the UK summer when I was pregnant. I had my first baby in a september and the second one in a may and with both of them I was really suffering with the heat. You also feel awkward from about 6 months onwards and your back starts to ache. Instead you could spend the time off work getting your baby stuff ready, setting the room up, packing your hospital bag etc etc. So really you have to pick which is better for you and try and gauge how you will feel by then.
