I just had to reply as I found out I was pregnant 3 years ago yesterday!! My baby was born 18/11/03.
If you have a 28 day cycle and lmp was 24th jan then you are just starting week 7 according to the baby centre.
Congratulations.
I think the norm is to tell people after 12 weeks but I told everyone straight away.
How are you feeling? ill?
Why can't you still go to Egypt?
Good luck with your pregnancy, you might be in this daze for a long time yet! Even if it's planned it's a shock.0 -
Go to your GP and get sorted out for pre natal care. You will also be entitled to free prescriptions - not sure how you get the certificate, but ask at the GPs.
Most people prefer not to tell outsiders until the first 12/13 weeks is up. Good luck with it.The IVF worked;DS born 2006.0 -
i too was a student when i found out. had a v private chat with my tutor (an old man but still v understanding) and was able to talk it through to a solution. im now on a year out and will be going back for my final year in september. it sounds odd as most tutors are old lecturers who you dont talk to v often, but they are there for this reason. mine even laughed it off as apparently loads of girls take years off to have babies on my course! made me feel a lot better!
edi: i told my tutor when i did the pregnancy test as i was a shocking 2 months late beforei did a test (there were a lot of essays that needed doing...) so i told tutor at 8wks pregnant. i think for long term planning its worth talking to tutors etc as soon as possible to arrange special exam arrangements (i got essay deadline extensions) and the next academic year. i told family at 8 wks pregnant too, as i was v excited but also had loads to sort out in terms of housing, uni, money etc. etc. stupidly didnt tell OH's family to keep quiet so nearly all his friends knew v soon.:A Boots Tart :A0 -
If this is what you want (albeit a bit sooner than anticipated) then congratulations. I'd check with your doctor, but depending upon when the planned trip is I don't see why you can't go on your hols (one last fling and all that).
Closer to the time you can try using your local freecycle group to get a few things for the baby. And I'm sure you'll get oodles of stuff from family.
My little nephew is nearly 2 and he really is a joy...an absolutely wonderful little boy. If this is what you want, then go for it and don't look back. No matter the problems that will be thrown in your path you will find a way through....everyone does eventually.Baby Year 1: Oh dear...on the move

Congratulations (I hope!). You have already received excellent advice from the other posters. I would suggest having a look on https://www.babycentre.co.uk. Its a great website with forums to chat to other expectant mothers on and loads of advice, support etc.
Go and see your g.p. who will arrange for you to have a booking in session with a midwife. Also, I know its still quite early, but can I suggest a good book? Its called Best Friends Guide to Pregnancy. Its absolutely hilarious and really down to earth.
One last thing, make sure you are eating well and taking care of yourself. Often the first few months can be some of the toughest as your body gets used to the changes."I've fallen down a hole" - said in best Monty Python voice-over.0 -

Personally I wouldn't tell anyone till you are 3 months. Iv'e learnt this the hard way. When I next get pregnant again there will only by my hubby, midwife and GP who will know till I'm 12 weeks.
EDIT: If you aren't already you need to take folic acid everyday for the first 3 months too.
Good luck and hope all goes well for you both.:heart2: Love isn't finding someone you can live with. It's finding someone you can't live without :heart2:0 -
GO to Egypt, it'll be your last chance for a break just the 2 of you for several yrs!!!0

Hiya - this happened to me when I had booked a 6 month back packing trip to Asia (baby was born 2 weeks before tge date we would have flown out!
As we had pruchased travel insurance when we bought out flights, we were able to clain back the cost of the flights via insurance it was really straightforward we got everything back except for the £50 excess. Doctor had to sign the form.
Start taking folic acid straight away - can get it fro any chemist of supermarket.
I found the babycentre website very helpful for peer support and researching what it means to be pregnant. An unplanned pregnancy can be a bit of a shock but it will all work out OK.

Hello, congratulations on your surprise. Depending on where you are in your pregnancy a holiday in Egypt could carry risks, I'm afraid the hygiene standards, public health and health care are very different there. It would be sensible to talk to your doctor about this.0
