    Hi again

Just got myself a slow cooker in Mr T's I am so excited (fantastic price - under a tenner!!!).:j:j:j

Hubbie just keeps rolling his eyes at me. Now all I need to do is read up on how to use it!!!!!

DD just asked me in a sarcastic tone if I am trying to start a small holding as we have just finished planting lettuces, tomatoes and rhubarb - I wish we had the room!! They don't moan when I do the baking and make the bread though:rolleyes:

    Enjoy your day!

Hi Salopman yeah I sometimes do twitter (and facebook!!) I have just put a follow on you I am same name on twitter as here!

  • Afternoon everyone,

still sitting in bed here.... lol!!! Had a bit of a headache in the night, then slept in till 8.30am (very late for me!), and have spent the morning mixing between dozing and watching Enchanted. It feels very decadent but I am telling myself this is a once-in-a-decade happening, so I'm not guilt-tripping myself!!

I will do some nachos for lunch probably, and for supper I am going to try a recipe from the Asda magazine - mini turkey meatloaves. Basically pork sausage meat mixed with turkey mince, and some breadcrumbs/herbs/beaten egg, then put in a muffin tin & cooked for 20 mins. They sound tasty & look really easy, so I shall be doing them later - will report back!

Diva, (((hugs))) for you - I thought Elona's advice (and others) was spot on about to handle it. So difficult for you. Remember, friends are the family you choose for yourself - and as Christabell said, thank you for choosing us :)
Sunny, thinking of you & hope all is well with your mum & dad soon.
Sybil, can you sellotape or blu-tac the key to somewhere out of sight but near the window??
NPM, I lurve Lush..... we don't have one here so whenever I'm in Brighton I stock up!! The Comforter bubble bar is my favourite.
Scuzz, lovely to "see" you!!!! I was just thinking the other day you hadn't been around for a while. So sorry to hear it's not good news on the work front for you right now, really hope something comes up very soon.

((((hugs))))) for everyone else not feeling 100% or having tough times. I suppose I really should drag myself out of bed soon - oldest DD wants me to go & get some tickets from the theatre box office for her. Other than that I am NOT doing anything. And I have a whole week off to look forward to as well :)

I am making the most of the good weather today by being out in the garden. I have just pruned the lavender bush down to half of it's size. It's a shame, but the alternative is even more bees than last year, and while ds isn't keen on bees he can ignore them as long as there aren't too many. He's only 4, so hopefully he will become more bee tolerant with age.

I have plenty of pots ready for this years seedlings now, and my garden is weed free. I am sitting down for 5 minutes as my back aches a bit from all the bending and stretching. I'll be ready to go again in a minute.

We went to the farmers market this morning. Even ds liked it as they sell chocolate. He only likes a small bit of ordinary chocolate, no other sweets really, so was happy with a white chocolate mouse. He's been out in the garden with his sandpit, worked his way through two whole buckets of water and a change of clothes and is now watching The Little Mermaid. At least he ate his lunch out in the fresh air.

DH has gone to do a bit more varnishing on the boat - it has to be stripped and repainted every year before it goes in the water. The boat really is OS. It's a Seabird half-rater (wooden with a sail) and was originally built in 1899.

MSD have pm'd you. Our family is rubbish too, and it's their loss as they miss out on a gorgeous, loving blonde little elf. There's no accounting for some people.

SunnyGirl hope your mum and dad are OK.

Look after yourselves the rest of you, and (((hugs))).

    Hello everyone

Another lazy day for me here, I haven't achieved an awful lot, though I'll get my tushy in gear in a moment as I have to go and buy some cat food.

Scuzz, I too was thinking of you the other day as I noticed you hadn't been around. Commiserations on losing your job, it's a worrying time for many. I'm among the ranks of the unemployed as well. Good luck on your jewellery making endeavor. Let us know how it goes at the stall in May. I'm thinking of creating some plug plants to flog at a car boot sale - nothing mad, it's just a case of getting seeds to germinate then selling the shoots in those little single holders. I'm all thought and no trousers when it comes to getting organised, so it'll probably never happen:rolleyes:

MSD - as mentioned earlier, you can pick your friends but not your family. My sister treats me like some sort of second class citizen. I'm not allowed in her car:rolleyes: and she hasn't phoned me in two years - and in fact I think has only phoned me three times in five years. I stopped phoning her, it was a waste of breath as she'd make an excuse to end the call. I think being related means to some people that you can just take others for granted and treat them like dirt. Sorry, that's no help at all. Try not to be too hard on yourself, sometimes it's just easier to accept the situation and work with it rather than against it. You can't make people change, they can only do that for themselves.

I'm going to try and do one of those fancy links....

exciting If you click on that you'll see if I managed it.

    Bye all

    Snowy

Afternoon all................(((((((((((((((((((((((((HUGS)))))))))))) if you need one......

The chap came this morning to start on the list of jobs, I had an appointment with Aldi, managed to spend £21, but I did buy 2 bottles of wine, a new spanner set for OH and a mat for the front door........then on to the complex to read the meter and hand in the keys.

Back home, jobs had gone on apace, he was putting the bathroom cabinet up when I got back. We have to wait for the cupboard in the kitchen, needs the OK from the landlord first.

A quick lunch, poached eggs on toast and the I tackled the shelves from the oven. They had been in the 'clean in the bag' bag for 2 days, had quite a bit of scrubbing, but they are now sparkling, have the side hangers soaking in bio soap powder and washing soda, I had some of the mixture left over, I have spread it on the floor of the oven to see if it has any effect on the gunge burnt on the bottom.

DD rang me to ask if her leg should be burning....told her no, get yourself down to the hospital and let them look at it.......she phoned me to say she was at the hospital her daughter had taken her down.......waiting to hear the outcome now.......

Not much more to do in the house now, just the niggly odd jobs. We can at last get rid of the boxes on the sitting room floor the pine unit is up on the wall....... the kitchen sideboard will be freed up as well........

OH washed down the front door inside and out yesterday, used vinegar to clean the glass, the patio door is the next one to do, and then the window frames as we clean through each room over the next week or so.

I figure I deserve a rest, so I am having a glass or two of chardonnay with my supper tonight and hitting the thorntons chocs.............
    Was 13st 8 lbs,Now 12st 11 Lost 10 1/4lbs since I started on my diet.

oooooh all this talk of chocs, you lucky people. I have a bar of Lindt in the freezer though (courtesy of DD) so I might just have it :p.
I've been a busy bee today and made a good sized dent in the ironing mountain. I still have it to put away but am having a little rest and a cup of coffee.
A little more sorting out of stuff is on the agenda and I'll try to make it paper based as it's the blue bin which goes out this week.
I have some seeds to plant - I got a lovely set on little match stick type things from DD at Christmas so I'll pot them up on the kitchen windowsill and watch them every day until they are big enough to plant out:D.
I also have salad leaves seeds so will pop some of them in a container as well.
Lunch today was a baked potato with blue cheese and some salad. Tea will be 2nd day curried veggie soup.
Ok, over and out and on with jobs (or a little browse first...)

    Afternoon,

I have a headache :rolleyes2 no surprise there!

thanks for all the lovely birthday wishes, I had a lovely time! One of my best friends and I share our birthday so a bunch of us went out to 'La Clique' in Leicester Square which is a cabaret/variety show, followed by our local haunt in Kingston, then a few of us came back to mine for drinks.

The headache is worth it though :p

Diva - I'm sorry about your family. They sound quite vicious in that they know exactly what will hurt you most. Hopefully your nephews know how much you love them and when they can make their own decisions they'll remember that.

Sunnygirl - How's your dad? Your family's in my thoughts.

Hmmmmm, OS for today will mainly be meal planning for the week - since France I've been appalling with that kind of thing and have been eating out waaaaaaaay too much, so time to get back on track.

((((((((((((((hugs)))))))))))))) to anybody who needs one.

    xx

    Afternoon all :)

back at work, OH is being mardy so I'm ignoring him (it carries less of a jail term than throttling him). He hasn't taken the news of my job application too well :( I don't really know what to do about this  I can't not apply for it as I'm being put forward for the position (and it would be career suicide didn't go ahead). We were looking at moving elsewhere in Europe anyway and it's so close to the borders that he could work in one of three countries really easily. I don't know. Then he went off on a bit strop about how he never gets anything done at work because he's always doing other people's work for them (as am I, but I just don't complain about it, I simply work harder to compensate) and doesn't get anywhere because he's being held back. Only he can change that.

Then he complained about the fact he isn't eating well - which TBH isn't actually up to me to sort out. I haven't been able to cook properly for a while (we've been away for three weeks in total and before that I was working stupid hours). I did point out to him that it doesn't stop him cooking - especially given the fact he works shorter hours than me. This did not go down well. I do most of the housework despite my hours.

Then I got the health problems spiel, which TBH I have very very little sympathy with as he isn't actually ill. He just thinks he is prone to certain conditions because they run in his family. If he is worried then he should go the GP.

    *sigh*

I'm supposed to be doing my thesis corrections today but I can't concentrate *shudder*

Thank you so much for the ribbon ideas, I'm looking at the moment about trying (trying being the operative word!) to make a simple tote bag with the weaving technique :) Fingers crossed (or possibly tied) :)

scuzz - nice to see you again :)
    has anyone seen bargainrzl lately?
MSD - ((hugs)) for you. I'm so sorry that there is so much friction in your family and think it is really awful for your mother to take sides :(
NPM - glad you feel better today :)
WS - I agree with salopman - you should write a book about LB's adventures :)

I've just been and bougt some sausages and some reduced veg in sainsbury's. I don't know what to do with it. OH may well be wearing it if he is still in bad mood when I get home. Probably sausage meatballs and pasta (just pasta for me, because I can't eat "round food" even if I've made it myself. I don't know why, it's just somehow wrong )

I did buy OH an easter egg, but if he's still being a pita when I get home, I might eat it. :D
