i like gardener's world. sure there are a few items that could be changed. but we all have our opinions and some of us are set in our ways. on the whole there are being bold with a new plot and are giving some good tips.

I watched again last night and somehow the presentations seem to be horribly contrived, especially the end bit about "What's cool.". . I don't like the new Green Acre site. There are very few gardeners who have that amount of space and whilst I realise they need a set which can demonstrate all kinds of planting and techniques, there's still something of a 'gardening in fantasy land' about it' which I suspect the newby gardener with difficult conditions will find very dispiriting. It makes gardening appear all too easy, which it isn't. And the camera men are not too hot about zooming in on demonstration techniques either - we seem to get more of the presenter's body than a focus on the splitting, sowing, etc. And could somebody please tell Alys not to wear that wretched snakestail scarf around her head again. I found it totally distracting. I've watched this programme for many years now and rate it very poorly compared with earlier times. A shame, because it's always been one of my Friday night's 'Must Watch'.
I didn't watch, but I heard something about them behaving like children with carrot seeds:o

  • I'm afraid I agree with the majority of comments on here. GW was a Friday night must watch, but I'm beginning to wonder why I'm bothering.
What does everyone think about that huge monstrosity otherwise known in the programme as the pond? I can't quite see the frogs jumping in and out of that one!! It must have cost a bomb with the amount of liner and then all that stone going up the side. How on earth can someone in today's economic climate aspire to copy that at home?
I also felt sorry for the 3 people who didn't get through to join Carol in her masterclass, what's the thinking behind it anyway, can't they just watch Carol on the program like everyone else?!
I'm off to the Malvern show tomorrow so will probably see them all wandering around.

Please tell the twerps what a shambles they've made of GW. AND I haven't got my free seeds yet! Thank you.
  • Amcluesent: Apparently the Dig In van will be there, do you want me to get you the pack as I already got mine when they came to Swansea?
When I've been to the show previously, the presenters are usually well guarded so might not get chance to give them my personal opinion!!

It's not a pond, is it? More like a well. It looks very nice, and I'm sure any water lilies or whatever they put in it will grow very well, but I agree - it's not very wildlife-friendly. Safer if you've got kids maybe, but anything that does fall in there isn't going to get out too easily.

That fashion show was a load of old manure

    I couldn't belive it!

I personally would like to see more of the plants on show as all the show gardens seem to be mostly hard landscaping
Just call me Nodwah the thread killer

I see you've all suffered again:D This is my second week of refusing to watch it:p I'm enjoying watching my own garden grow and massacring the creeping buttercup with my deadly two pronged fork:rotfl:

Watch out for any frost over the weekend:eek:

    Ahh the fashion show.... embarrassing.

Did you see when Toby asked the audience had they pr1cked out their tomatoes yet, some said they haven't and Toby was suprised? And then they were still giving out the tomato seeds with the Dig In pack..... :)
