Gardeners World

I no longer watch Gardeners World because Geoff Hamilton always taught me you don't have to throw tons of money at a garden for it to look good. The programme is a bit too free with splashing the cash for my liking.
I miss Geoff. His gardens at Barnsdale are amazing. We spent an entire day there recently and came away with more inspiration and renewed enthusiasm for gardening than Gardener's World could ever provide.~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -

So you think that them sitting in the shed (roughly 54:54 minutes through the program go to the Gardener's World part of the bbc website if you can't see it on iplayer) is a normal discussion?
It reminds me of the old TV program "Why don't you?".~~~~~~~~~~~~Halifax, taking the Xtra since 1853:rolleyes:~~~~~~~~~~~~0 -
carol klein was the most enthuastic person on television even more hyper then gordon ramsey lol and that's a good thing as it made me want to watch more and do more with my garden and she made me feel good.i think they should alternate the presenters like get monty don and carol kliene to do a show one week then the next week they can put the younger ones on as they seem to be good for the beginners and the parents and children i used to love last years series with carol taking cuttings and getting me in a good mood to do my gardening at the weekend i've nothing against the current presenters but i did prefer the old series.why have they changed presenters did the presenters want to leave or were they struck off or was it mutual does anybody know the previous presenters didn't have any flaws and so had no reason to leave.the producers have got themselves into a lot of bother now if the ratings go down a lot they might axe the show!!!nooooooooooo or they might reinstate the oldies(no offence i just prefer to use this word)which isn't exactly fair on the current presenters as they haven't been on the show very long and it might be dificult for them to find a job if they don't last very long so they would probably be better off on cbbc with respect of course as a lot of kids have become more interested in gardening and growing fruit and veg lately which is great0

Ah go on, I bet you loved that plastic parrot:eek:
I'm going to get one.
My neighbours with an average age of 4 seem to like my garden gnome so I should get a parrot to match.
Maybe then they will take the garden gnome away as well...........I'm not cynical I'm realistic

Okay - what happened in the shed? I REALLY want to know....
Go on tell PLEEEEEEEEEEEZE.
Hi choille
Well, they all sat chatting in the potting shed and the little girl was in there with them, they were treating her like and adult some of the time and then like a child. Was she there for the 'cute' factor? (When I say cute I mean nauseating.) She looked uncomfortable as if she didn't really know what was going on but obviously had been briefed for the potting with Alys clip.
I wanted to gag throughout. I sat down with a cuppa hoping for an hour of escape into gardening talk and it was the worst mish mash of rubbish ever. Do you think someone at the BBC is having a laff?
I would love a programme which talked about veg growing for 1/2 hour, tips on using up recycled stuff and money saving tips. I have just completed my veg garden patch and made raised beds out of bits of wood and chicken wires etc found in skips and in the street, cost me nowt. The can idea was ludicrous, even my 13 year old said she might cut her fingers!Save £12k in 2012 no.49 £10,250/£12,000
Save £12k in 2013 no.34 £11,800/£12,000
'How much can you save' thread = £7,050
Total=£29,100
Mfi3 no. 88: Balance Jan '06 = £63,000.
Balance 23.11.09 = £nil.0 -
SEE - I wouldn't recognise a £70 watering can if it jumped up and hit me in the face. Even if you grew all your own veg, if you bought one of these, this purchase would cost more than the entire capital you laid out for growing all your own crops, including the cost of seeds, compost, fertiliser, etc. I think these people are living in La La land. Genuine gardeners are down to earth people. They're not fooled by this kind of fashionista stuff.0

It seems a real waste of space. It's as if they've had some sort of brief from the government....You see all these working class people, well they think they're skint now. Things is gonna get a lot worse. Give them a programme that will get them all chucking out their decking that that dreadful Tidmash chap had them put in. Get them planting food. That'll get the obesity figures down as well. Oh, & keep it simple, as they're not that bright. They voted us in, so they can't be.....
It is such a shame. I agree a good allotment type of programme where they speak to the people who actually do it. There was one on a while back. Think it was on BBC2. Or just how it was - sensible & different parts to the programme - something for everyone.
All this chucking money at it is annoying. I, too just use what I have lying about or can wheek out of skips. Most of my shrubs are cuttings I've taken, or self-seeded stuff from neighbours & friends gardens. And cheap bulbs & plants from Poundland & Morrissons.
They used to teach gardening in schools. They should bring it back.
But I think the BBC will get ever so many complaints about this fiasco - I hope so.0
