Whiteorchid, I'm new to this game so thanks for the above re 'cigarettes' counting towards required spend levels - I always assumed that the T&Cs excluded them
'Points will not be given for purchases made at the tobacco kiosk'
but I suppose online is not a kiosk !
I'm not a smoker but my other half is so the purchase of cigarettes can act as a nice balancing item to reach the various spend levels !
Thanks for the info0 -

Actually, I think you're right with regard to tobacco purchases but booze is ok though.0 -
Earlier in this thread people have mentioned the pitfalls of using a code on a minimum grocery spend, then finding out when the delivery arrives that out-of-stock items and rejected substitutions cause the total to drop below the minimum spend level and the points/discount don't get applied. Apparently Tesco's attitude is "tough luck" - you don't get the points/discount, even though you're not at fault.
Unless the customer has psychic powers to predict which items won't be delivered, it seems the only safeguard is to spend way over the minimum spend to create a kind of "buffer zone" to cancel out any out-of-stocks or unsuitable substitutions. But it seems perverse that we should have to spend more money to safeguard ourselves against Tesco's shortcomings.
I'm placing an order slightly over £50 and using the 1,000 points code. Before I sign to accept the delivery I'm going to check the receipt to see if I've been shafted in this way. Has anyone ever tried to reject an entire order because they've spotted this problem on the receipt before accepting delivery? If so, what happens? Do they still charge you the delivery?0 -

I have rejected a full order b4 and not been charged for delivery.
I have also rung up to complain my points hadnt been added 4 or 5 times over the last few years and have always got them added after a polite conversation.
If it's because your bill dips below the minimum spend on the t&c's of the voucher as things are 'out of stock' or substituted items are cheaper then it's not your fault but Tesco's and I have always got my points.
If a CS person tells you 'tough' then they are wrong. I would hang up and ring back to speak to another, or ask to speak to their supervisor.
If you haved lots of BOGOF items in your basket - you need to tot up how much that will take off your bill and ensure you still have the minimum amount required to spend AFTER the discounts have come off.
They do try to argue on this one and although I have got points like this it is a battle! So I always take the discounts off and make sure the minimum spend is still over the threshold.0 -
I think Tesco are wrong on this and should change their stupid rules for it. I wouldnt play mind games having to worry in case they are out of stock or substitute items and then not get the points. The customer service have got a lot worse recently and its really not worth the hassle. My last 2 £5 off codes were rejected for no given reason and although it was refunded to my card it was a really big effort to get it and I was left feeling like a criminal afterwards. That was enough to put me off I don't need to put up with it
I have been shopping with them every week for about the last 5 years and I recently started to shop at Aldis and Asda. They are both much cheaper, better quality veg and fruit and good quality all round. I actually like Aldi also because its smaller and easier to get round. I like the special offers they have and the variety of them. The price differences between Asda, Aldi and Tesco though are huge and I'm quite happy to stick with Asda and Aldi at the moment, its been much more pleasantThanx

I agree, I went to Asda recently and felt ripped off by tescos prices. However, I hate shopping with the kids and round here Adsa don't deliver. Although I'm hooked on collecting points and am half way to my goal I'm beginning to wonder if the money you save in points makes up for what you overpaid in the first place!0

I've had this problem too..
because I've ordered some deals online and didn't print out copies - DVD rental memberships, tesco mobile registration points bonuses - when they've not appeared on my statement and I've queried it with customer services they've always asked me for the deal code... which of course I don't have.
Frustrating that Tesco can't keep track of the points per person. I'm going to start a log of points deals for this quarter and see if it ties in with reality.laurmurph0 -
i've just got my order, using a 1000 points code when spending £50. i bought nappies and a packet of butter. the guide price is £53.76 then postage, but this morning i realised that because there's a multisave on the nappies i would only be charged £48 for them, and 81p for the butter - that's below the £50 min spend.
the order has arrived with 1052 points - yippee!! but reading the last few comments on here it seems that it shouldn't have happened.
my total cost on my credit card is £52.80 but 3.99 of that is the delivery charge so either the £50 min spend can include the delivery charge, or the guide price before savings are taken off counts as a £50 spend. any ideas anyone?
i was wondering if i could have another order using that code sent to my mum - buy some baby wipes on 2 for 1 with a guide price of £50 but only have to pay £25 at the checkout :rotfl:52% tight0 -
I have just done my monthly order and find that they have changed the checkout system so you can't tell if you have inputted codes or not. I carefully inputted the 5 spend £2 on etc and get 50 points evouchers which came with my clubcard statement only for it to tell me I hadn't used any evouchers or coupons on the order!!
It no longer gives you a menu which tells you what you have put in.
I rang the helpline and they are really fed up of this new system. They can check if the coupons have registered and in fact when I got the confirmation email it does list what you have used but that's not much use if you get interrupted while inputting or just forget to put a tick on the voucher when you've done it. If you try to input a voucher again it just says it has been used too many times. At least with the old sytem you could "bank" the vouchers and see when they expired etc. I think I will have to put an order in and then change it successively until I manage to get all the vouchers included but it is a real hassle. Why change a system which worked fine? The amount of staff time involved in sorting out puzzled customers must be collossal. It is the first option on the automated telephone system which shows you how much trouble people are having.

I'm sorry if this has been asked before, put I have searched and couldn't find anything.
I have a Tesco voucher worth £5. I want to save this towards getting a deal. I don't get many clubcard points as I only spend around £40-£50 each week.
I'd like to know how long I can keep the voucher before putting it towards a deal? I know that once you have deal vouchers back that you have to use these within 6 months.DMP mutual support number 174Total debt now (April 10) £0! - total paid off £30,221 or 100%I'm now debt free after 6 years!!:jNon smoker since June 2006 :j0
