Hi Swinstie - you've had a busy few days. Sorry the meal ended up more expensive but if you do manage a lucky dip approach to xmas it should help out.

Well if we do a lucky dip, it would save at least £20, will probably get a 'small' gift for my friend's kid and then £10 for the lucky dip, will still make a saving.

EssexHebridean, you're probably right with the drains being clogged, problem is I know where the stop-co*k (better asterisk that incase it gets bleeped out) :rotfl:is but I can't get into it. OH can't get down until Monday and although I want him to be my hero and rescue me, I've asked my sister's bloke to look at it, he can come on Sunday. Once the leak has been found, will flush the drains with bicarb and hope it works. It is stinking, will the smell go once it's stopped leaking?! I hate house maintenance, but I guess that was one of my challenges, to get any repairs done before Christmas. I'm on a roll :D

As for toiletries, started updating my list again and I am so embarrassed with the stuff I have, looked into seeing what I could give away for presents and there are possibilities, knowing my luck though I'll them to the person I received them from :rotfl::rotfl::rotfl:

Well washing is finished, will hang up, maybe watch an hour of tv then have my bath, keep forgetting this is Friday cos was off on Monday, even forgot to leave work at 4pm (usual Friday finish) and was still sitting there at 4.45pm, duh!

ETA: Have loads of twin-pack toothbrushes already, enough to last all next year - some obscure make cos who cares, does the same job!

Well what a difference a couple of days makes! Was all geared up with my plan, part of which had got a new credit card to do a balance transfer when my current one ends in December. I tell the girl at the bank that I want to open a card but probably too early as won't be transferring til end of November. That's fine she tells me, you have 90 days from opening to doing the transfer, so the 9 months starts from then. Are you sure I say, yes it says it right here... pointing to the t&c's. Now I didn't think it sounded right, but hey she's the one working in a bank!

Anyway got my card in today, started reading over the stuff, phone to activate then read something about the promotional rate starting from the account opening, help! So I ask the guy, who explains that's right, told him what the girl at the bank said, and basically was mad as hell as she totally missold me the card when I specifically told her I wouldn't be transferring til November.

My only options were to transfer now or cancel the card, I was so mad as I needed it to run til next August/September (it will end 28 June 2010)! I ended up transferring £3.5K instead of £3K as too scared of not getting another card. Ideally one for 13 months would have been great as even transferring early it would've covered the period I needed it to.

Sorry for the moaning post, but I knew things were going too well, ha! Will now have to re-jig the finances and see what happens. I also have put a complaint in, as finance advisors, whilst can only advise you, should not be telling you something that isn't correct. If she didn't know she should've found out, idiot!

Well have a nice weekend, OH is taking me out for dinner tonight cos he forgot to take chicken out the freezer this morning (he could defrost in the micro but I'll go for the dinner out option)! x

oooh, grrrrr. I am not friends with banks at the moment myself. But maybe they will be able to extend the 0% interest period until then if you have sent them a letter. Silly girl. She was right in saying you have 90 days to do the transfer but not that the interest free period starts then. Silly silly

Hope it turns out ok. :o

Definately worth having a good complain over it - the banks are quite concerned about any possibility of their products being missold these days I think so you might well get somewhere.

Drains - get yourself a cup of salt, and pour it into the sink plughole. Get two cups of white vinegar and heat in a pan until boiling, then pour it down the plughole carefully after the salt. Pop a jar-lid or something over the hole and leave it for 20 minutes or so. Boil a full kettle of water and pour down the hole, then flush through well with cold water. That should help clear some of the nasties that are lurking. You can also try a cup of bicarb followed by a cup of cold white vinegar - that one fizzes brilliantly! Same thing afterwards - flush with hot, then cold water. If you've got a smell issue with the machine too then I'd be 99% certain that so long as it pumps out via your sink drainpipe (which it probably does) then that'll be your problem - including the leak - sorted.

    Hi Swinstie,

and if you have one, check your filter isn't clogged up, as an incentive, you might find money in there :T . Then when you've done all this, write it in you 'Home Journal' to remind you to do it all again in 3 months time, lol.

Don't worry, we'll get you sorted.

    Have a good one.

    Hey everyone,

Thanks for all the drain tips! Washing machine hose was leaking so sis's OH has put a new one on and told me to keep an eye on it. Will do the salt/boiling water thing tomorrow, once I find the salt, sure have a big bag somewhere.

Had a sneaky Chinese tonight, was £4.80 more than I wanted to spend today but couldn't get into the kitchen to cook cos of the WM sitting in the middle of the kitchen, so was a good excuse, was starving as well.

So going to write my letter of complaint tomorrow (initial complaint was an internal email from the guy I spoke to yesterday) - I'm sure he sent it, aye right probably didn't bother. I am sending the complaint though as I would've waited to take the card out if she hadn't given me duff info. Should work out though cos still got til Dec 2010 to clear the debt, might just have to pay loan off a few months later than I wanted to.

Well watching X-Factor just now, kind of gave up when seen that those two twin !!!!! got through! They won't be there for long, I hope. Have a nice nite everyone x

We do ours once every couple of months with either salt/vinegar or bicarb/vinegar, and the sink drains out so fast these days! Must do the bath plughole at some stage - but at the moment it's a battle of wills between myself & MrEH as to who is going to get fed up and clear the hair from the plughole first! :D
