yup i had a bit of trouble with my quik tune tuner, seems a bit random at times, still loving the guitar though, may need to upgrade the amp though if I wanna blow the windows out!0

Just out of interest, what were the problems you were both having with the Quik Tune? when you turn it on, it starts in auto mode, so it will tell you the note of the string you pluck, if you pluck an E but the string is not tuned in, it might for example tell you that string is currently tuned in to D and the needle and lights will show if you are high or low of that note. The standard tuning on a guitar is EADGBE (from thick string down ofc) but there are a number of other ways to tune your guitar to atchieve different sounds (DADGBE for example) the actual string is not a note, it's tuned in to a note, you will find that quite often you will have to use the tuner to tune your low E string down a step to a D (quite a few songs use this tuning) which is why the tuner will not just tell you the note of the string you wish to tune and how far you are from having it tuned 100%
that probably made things a whole lot more confusing.

Thanks Jamie, I'd suspected that was what was happening - I guess I was just a bit apprehensive about whether to go up or down and tweaking the strings too much! All sorted eventually anyway!0

Got mine today, too!
I managed to tune most of the strings with my Qwik Tune after being patient, but the thin E string didn't seem to be detected at all. I thought maybe it was very out of tune but I tried adjusting it and nothing. I ended up adjusting it too much and snapped the string..doh.
Managed just about to replace it with the spare.
Is it just me or the the tone knobs not do anything? And how are you supposed to install that tremelo bar thing? I screwed it in but it doesn't seem to alter the sound either. No change at all..0 -
If anyone is interested in how a black one plays (probably a real one) checkout BBC1 tonight on freeview. Press the red button and then select Dave Gilmour. You'll get a great 30 minute set of him playing loads of Pink Floyd stuff. There are a lot of close up's to study.
Enjoy and aspire !!!0 -
Yeah, the knobs to tend to make pretty subtle effects to the sound on those strat copies.
As for the tremolo, screw it but don't tighten it up, have it so it swings round freely. Strum a chord and grab hold of the tremolo bar with your right hand, pointing the tip of it up the neck of the guitar, and gently push it down towards the body of the guitar. You will notice that it works as a lever, pushing it down alters the Angle of the bridge (the part the strings rest on) subsequently, the strings slacken and lower the tone of the note......have a play around strumming and wobbling the tremolo bar up and down a little to see what it does to the sound.0 -

Hmm, as far as I can gather you have two options....
Either keep it and be disappointed
or
Go through the hassle of sending it back?!!!
(then perhaps learning some of the riffs on ACDC's "Back in Black" album)0 -
Hmm, I ordered a black one and received a blue one a few weeks ago. Maybe we should swap
. Think mine may be faulty as it still wont play "Comfortably Numb" correctly.............
