well ive been in two different schools with my kids so far and never had a problem with either of them i think some people like to make a fuss about nothing!:rotfl:thriftlady wrote: »It is a complete myth that children are allowed 'so many days off' school. You obviously have a headteacher who turns a blind eye, but I can assure you that children are not allowed to take time out of school for holidays.0 -
i agree across, i take full advantage of the 10 day allowance every year!0

thanks for that!as long as we dont have a bad attendance record then there nothing wrong with a family holiday in term time!these goodies goodies with too much money to waste are trying to rub my nose in it and i'm not having it i dont get ripped off i am sensible with my money and if that means i cannot afford to waste good money to buy holidays in school holidays then i'm not losing sleep over it!!!:jin fact i'd like to rub their nose in it now i get cheap holidays and the same as they get a week later/before for half the price!!!!so there! whos the fool now then???:pmoggitymog wrote: »i agree across, i take full advantage of the 10 day allowance every year!0 -
I'm a teacher and I fully agree that holidays in term time can be more beneficial than detrimental to the children; as I work part-time I often take my two out of school for a couple of days to make a long w/end away possible.
One of the Primary Schools in the area saves all five of its INSET days until the last week of the Summer Term then tells the parents to go book a cheaper holiday!
What a brilliant idea!!!0 -
and if you do get fined, its approx £50 per week, per child. still cheaper0

It's a simple semantic difference I think - there is no LEGAL right to 10 days out of school, but in practice, most schools will authorise 10 days out without any problem. Some may not authorise in SATS weeks etc, but it's up to them. I take my daughter (Reception) out and I'm a teacher (when I'm not working of course!) I've never really had a problem with children taking time out of term for holidays.0

Don't mean to take the pee, but, both dp and i work for NHS, everyone wants school holidays off and we can't all have them so needs must for us, either that or no family holiday0
