It's an idea I'm considering once my youngest goes off to nursery next year. I have loved learning all these new skills.:D

Louise - They are really fab!

Can I be cheeky and ask how long they took, where you got your ideas from and approx how much each one cost to make?

Course you can - that's why the thread is here lol

I made all seven in one evening - from about 8pm till 1am. The blue one took longer because it was more complicated, but the ivory/gold ones I managed to throw together in half an hour each lol.

My ideas just came from the colours come people are wearing and whatever flowers I could get to match. My mum's flowers I nicked from a display in her house (it's ok - she knows lol):rotfl:All the other roses are from either ebay or Hobbycraft - around £3 for 8 large roses.

Not sure how much they all cost - my mum's was only the cost of a bit ribbon and some florists tape, so about 50p lol. I had a lot of bits and bobs in my craft box from other wedding projects, but I don't think any of the corages will have cost more than £2ish once the price of the bits is split down.

Hi, Finally got round to finishing the cake topper.....it came out ok, but a couple of bits went funny in the oven  My nose "caught" (looks sunburnt!), his face has some strange white marks on it, there's a bump on my dress....(sorry for the blurry pic)

    topper2.jpg

Any ideas on how to get rid of or cover up the marks?!? =oS

And here's the Guestbook (still working on it)......

Not sure whether to add more detail....I don't want it to look too "fussy". Obviously the ribbons will be trimmed and smartened up ;)

Next on the agenda is the table plan (FINALLY got the seating sorted after a trip to the venue, and 2 hours of getting ALL the tables out and doing different "combinations") :D

    Gosh Louise, your very talented!

Snugglepants, I have no idea how you can cover up the marks, but I think they look fab just as they are, it shows that you have done it yourself and all your love, care and attention has gone into it!!

    Hi Snugglepants!

Thanks for sharing those with us - your toppers are great, it will mean so much to have personal ones. I particularly love the hair on your one!! I see you have a baldy Hubby 2 be like me - they are so much easier aren't they? :rotfl:

As for the marks (which aren't actually all that noticeable tbh) what about using some foundation to touch up the white bits??

As for your gust book - I love it! I think it looks great as it is, simple yet effective. I might have to steal the idea of the way you have done your ribbons if you don't mind ;)

  • Thank you both :)

Louise - The pic doesn't show them very well....they're very visible - I could not believe it when I took them out!!! I think I'll have to try your idea of foundation (if i dare....think mine's too light tbh). The hair - thanks :) was nicer on my 1st attempt unfortunately, but still looks alright. Still not sure how I'm having my hair, but i want it wavy, so I figured I'd leave it down - I didn't even attempt my tiara lol.

Guest book - Yes, I know what you mean, it does look alright as it is. And yes, definitely take the ribbons idea ;) nice effect isn't it?
  • .....and yes, baldy hubbies are great :D he did suggest painting stubble on to cover up the white but I think it'll look silly!

Snugglepants - did you use a ready made book for the pages of your guest book, then decorate, or did you start it from scratch?

And how did you punch all the holes - individually or did you have access to a large punch?
