But comments such as 'if this is what all retired people do then il carry on working' and 'prat' how is that helpful. I actually find it highly distasteful and hurtful.

Let's not beat about the bush here; anyone who finds it hurtful to be called a prat and takes any offence from a bunch of nobodies on an internet forum is by definition, a total prat.

But is there any need for it? Is that how you get your kicks???

Some of the forums have such helpful members. I prefer Trip Advisor forums, some really nice, helpful people on there. Its only travel related though.
Is a sufferer of SAD, so don't blame me, blame the depressing English weather!!!

In fairness, have a read of some of the OP's comments....

In reality if a real prospect of success is shown the judgment in default will be set aside, barring any other extreme circumstances.
As Tozer said earlier, if reasonable prospects exist the application will be allowed in practice in the majority of circumstances. And it certainly would here.

Bang on. In my experience, Judges never reject a set aside if there are reasonable prospects of a defence - not even that a Defence is likely to be successful.

A company I act for has just (last week) had a successful set aside application despite it being 4 months after the default judgment on the basis that the debt was never due.

It would be very rough justice to deny a good defence on the basis of a default judgment.

Whether the OP is right or wrong, it helps to be supportive!!!

Good luck on your case, Orange are in the wrong!!

I dont know the law, so I dont know all the ins and outs.
If you don't know the law then how do you know Orange are in the wrong?

And, insults aside which are never helpful, some posters don't help themselves when they just ignore knowledgable advice because it's not what they want to hear.

Being supportive to someone who is going to fall flat on their face is potentially far more damaging than those unconstructive jibes that you're critcising. What if in this instance the OP wanted to sue Orange for £2 million in damages and took their claim to the High Court? Mindless support in such instances would only spur the OP on towards a course of action that would become extremely expensive for them potentially.

I agree that there are posters on here who are unnecessarily snide with a lot of their comments, but such people are par for the course on the internet, as indeed they are in real life. But there is balance to be had, and mindless support is potentially a lot more detrimental and damaging.

Tis a shame that my post appears to have been removed because I disagreed with the poll. A problem with this site as it seems some that lurch on to compensation grabbers as Trolls because they disagree with their victim sympathy ethics

Such a shame nowadays we have a society fed on a soap diet of fist led confrontation that does now allow a mediation to take place.
I will still not vote in a poll that does not give mediation a choice and reiterate my previous comments, though toned down.

Bottom of the sixth page. It made me smile when I read it so I just happened to remember roughly where it was :)
