Received my welcome pack this morning too. No cancellation email yet but order is still showing as being processed. Not holding out much hope of actually getting the bed though but will be over the moon if I did.

  • I read this thread on Tuesday, got caught up in the excitement and in an uncharacteristic moment of spontaneity I went online and ordered a bed!

Got a confirmation email just after midnight and haven't heard anything since.

Bu meantime I've been reading the advice threads on the forum about choosing a mattress and haven't been feeling so smug about snapping up a bargain. The general thrust seems to be 'don't buy Silentnight at ANY price'.

There are loads of stories about Silentnight mattresses becoming useless after 18 months– 2 years, and one story of 6 months followed by 4 months for the replacement! (See 'My bed and Argos' thread).

The bed expert on the threads (eg 'Which Mattress?') doesn't give tuppence for the miracoil technology the Silentnight uses, and has advised me to cancel my order even at £153!

I'm beginning to think I should cancel and save up for a decent mattress, which is what I need.

Just thought I'd share my findings with you, and some of you might feel a bit better about not getting this bargain!

I know it might be academic anyway, as they may well cancel on me. Just wondering whether to wait to hear from them or call and cancel it. What do you think?

Well, all I can say is that they must have been having a very good time on that bed! ;)

My current bed is about 9 years old, it was a cheapy one too, so I can't see a £700 bed only lasting a few months!

Theirs was a Silentnight bed retailing at over £800, reduced to half price in Argos sale.

I currently have a Silentnight mattress that I got from Argos just over 18 months ago. According to Argos it retailed at £700 but was half price so got it for £350. Waste of money cause one side of the bed the springs have broken and you tend to roll out if you lie on that side. But for £153 I would quite happily have another bed no matter what the make.
