Hi, this is the Daily Thread for April 6th 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning! Easter holiday for some. I have a few days off, so no where to rush off to today. The forcast is for rain all day. It has not arrived yet, but it will no doubt.
I need to paint the bathroom window and tile the window cill, so I am trying to do that on the cheap.
The weekend was fine, plants are growing and potted a few on. There may be some left to sell or swap. I am going to try and raise £1000 this year by a combination of selling boot sale stuff, excess plants, and chickens that I am incubating. I Figure if I can do that then I might be able to have a holiday.
Lady from church came back from Jamaica and as a thankyou for the flights and travel plans I sorted I got a lb of Blue Mountain coffee and soem real jerk seasoning.
Jerk chicken for tea then!
First batch of chickens should hatch on Easter weekend... 29 out of 30 doing well...
Well, have a nice day everyone.

Typing what N9eav...?!?! lol... How are the eggs/chickens?? EDIT to say - now you've typed, glad to hear virtually all are doing well. Enjoy your few days off too.
just dropping by to send positive vibes for Snowy for today.
Sybil - have you thought of writing a book about the adventures of little bear?? Or even as a diary for him to read when he gets older?
DonnyG, thank you for the update re Mioliere, glad to hear she might be back with us soon!
Work for me today - leaving DD's with some instructions to do something in the house.... (ie stack the dishwasher or do some washing/hang it out...). Somehow I doubt it will happen.
Anyhow, better get up & moving, have a 2nd cuppa then time for a shower.
Have a good day all & (((((((((((hugs)))))))))) for all those needing one.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Morning peeps
i`ve been around for a while but was too lazy to start the thread - Thanks N9eav
Nice to see everything is back to normal, the thanks button moving yesterday was a nightmare lol but it`s back in the usual place today. I managed to read yesterday but not post properly as it was busy at w*rk.
This morning i`ve sorted out the dw and left the bm for DH to sort out as it hadn`t finished before i left, i managed to get a couple of things ironed whilst on the cheap rate electricity so i`m feeling quite pleased, if i keep this up i shall make a dent in the ironing pile before my day off which would be great.
I`ve spent lots of time in the garden this weekend and now have some of "the mix" in my a few of my new square foot gardening tubs, i shall hopefully do a bit of research into how much of each plant i can put in each tub later today and if the weather is good later i shall make a start.
All the fruit shrubs are now planted and all the seedlings that were lining my windowsills are now in the greenhouse so fingers crossed that everything will grow.
Tea tonight is chicken stirfry and jacket potatoes so nice and easy.
It`s lovely to see some of the old posters back on here, you have been missed, hopefully even more will return.
Have a good day everyone ((((HUGS)))) to all in need.
Catch up later peeps.
SD
EDIT Good luck Snowy!!Planning on starting the GC again soon0 -
Morning :hello:
I'm going to St Ives for a weekend in july :j Can't wait :j
My doc has been wonderful, giving me firm instructions on what to do about certain things, and suggestions on other things. It boils down to - be a bit more selfish with your time, and look after yourself instead of everyone else all the time. I've made a start with my FRO fortnight
Here's where you lot come inI'm carrying on with my fortnight routine (rinse and repeat, lol), but I want to get back to my OSing. I really need a push with this because I haven't done it properly for about 2 months and I'm feeling a bit lost. Could you all add your daily bicarbing and vinegaring adventures when you post?
When I read what other people are doing, it kind of puts me in the mood to get going. Please thank you

Good morning everyone :hello:
It's the first day of the holidays for me. :j :j I'm exhausted already and still trying to recover from the wedding we went to on Saturday!
For tru, this is what I plan to do today (note the word PLAN):
- load WM
- iron pile of clothes and sheets, currently the size of Everest.
- reclaim paper recycling box from the person down the road that nabbed it (it even has our house number on it!).
- walk into small town to post Readitswapit book and belated birthday card to a friend in Australia.
- buy mince for spag bol for tonight's supper.
- wander around town and decide that I need to pop into local cafe for "people watching" (and tea drinking).
- make sure that the kitchen shines (Stardrops in use here
)
- sort out paperwork mountain, filing it away as necessary and shredding the rest.
- read book on sofa

Want to try and tidy up my desk a bit at home, seems mountains of unnecesssary clutter, where does it all come from?
Tea will be Mrs B special omelette, its like a frittata - I think thats how its spelt!
Weather is sort of dullish but looks brighter over yonder as my grandma used to say - where is yonder?
kids off school so roads will be quieter hopefully,
has anyone noticed how the bushes and trees are sprouting like mad seems to have happened all of a sudden.
Have a goo day all...

Morning all,
I've just finished cleaning my oven, long overdue. I left a mix of stardrops and starclean in it overnight and it's worked a treat, means I don't have to get the hammer and chisel out. Also left the oven trays soaking in the same mix in the bath, I'd forgotten they were crome.
Bed stripped and bedding in the wm, think I'll chance it and hang them out. I should have made use of the good weather y/day but just can't bring myself to do washing on a Sunday.
Plan to get stuck into re-pointing stonework unless DD2 and baby Charlotte deceide to pop round, everything gets put on the back burner when they are here as I need my cuddles quota topped up.
Hope today is a good one for all.0 -
Morning all
Positive vibes for Snowey.
Dropped hubby at woork with his tool box, I've come home to have breakfast, walk the dog, make hubby's lunch & a quick blitz of the kitchen & then I'll go to work for 3 hours.
When I come home I'm going to sort out my floordrobe & I think that will be it for today. I can't see me getting round to the spare rooms as well, I'll aim to start those tomorrow.
I need to get some mince out of the freezer & make cottage pie for tea.
Have a good day everyone
Hugs Hester
