Been with Vanquis for 10 months now, all payments on time.

    Still £250 limit.

Been running a balance of circa £220, but now down below £200 and plan to have it cleared in a couple of months.

Spoke to them when I rang and made last payment, she advised that "limits are reviewed automatically" but she would "note that I had requested an increase".

Lo and behold a mailshot arrives on Saturday from "Real Personal Finance" offering their services..... another arm of the same animal which is Provident!

So I guess it's going to be a "no" from the nice people at Vanquis.
Capital one £200 - bal nil. Aqua £350 - bal nil
    Vanquis limit [STRIKE]£250[/STRIKE] [STRIKE]£750[/STRIKE] £1250 - bal £450. Nat West overdraft limit - £300, unused. JD Willaims limit [STRIKE]£400 [/STRIKE] [STRIKE] £600 [/STRIKE] £900 - bal £90.
Very limit £400 - balance £329 (buy now pay 2011!)

Getting the gold card from Vanquis may sound great and fantasic.. but it's not.

There is absolutely no difference what so ever between the gold and standard card (except the colour.. but you can paint your standard card gold if your desperate to have that specific colour in your purse/wallet). I just found it an inconvenience being "upgraded" to gold because of having to wait for the pin etc.

My gold card hasn't brought me any joy.. and no one seems interested when I try to show off, waving it around in Tesco. You'd assume being upgraded to gold would bring you a host of benefits but not with Vanquis.

  • Yeah I agree it is not all good news as the rates doesn't change.

Going to cancel the card when they eventually upgrade anyway, just playing it out to see when they upgrade, may help other users on this board.

If it helps, I got my gold card when my limit reached £2000. But I'm sure I've read on this forum that someone got a gold card when their limit was £1500?
