    Hi everyone,

    Katie, congratulations!
Csarina, I do hope your dd is ok after her fall. I know it was an inconvenience for you but at least your son in law was able to help with the cupboards.
Tru, any luck with finding some girls?

It's good to see the forum back up and running again. I had a lovely day yesterday, cleaning for dd coming home from university, with no distractions and I actually enjoyed it. It scares me sometimes how much time I spend on here. :o

Today I have just enjoyed having dd at home. I've missed her so much and it's lovely to have all my chicks back in the nest so we've had a real family weekend with lots of catching up, laughter and teasing. We sampled the raspberry gin that's been maturing and it's delicious. I think I'll make some more if the new raspberry canes produce fruit this year. Dinner tonight is roast beef, purple sprouting broccoli (from the garden) sugar snap peas, roast potatoes and yorkshire pudding. I'm just filling in time while the beef rests.

I hope everyone has had a good weekend.

    Evening :hello:

I've been in the garden too, there's loads of nice strong seedlings :T I bought new netting today, 2m x 12m, but I don't think it's enough  I've covered the veg patch - we get loads of birds - I still need to make 2 wigwams to cover the blueberry and blackcurrant bushes and have some going from the top of the fence to the edge of the patio to cover the raspberries, tayberries and blackberries. We've got 2 grape vines too, but I think I've killed them

Pink, I've had no luck yet but I'm going to ring around some farm shops (again) tomorrow. We have quite a few round here who keep chicken and sell their own eggs. There are a few places I could get them from, but I want them to be from local, family-run smallholdings. Not that I'm fussy or anything :D

Oooooh, there's a 'remove your thanks' button  :rotfl:

    Hi all :D

    Congratulations Katie :j:j

Well, has been an odd weekend here. Looks like we are moving :D We moved to Crewe a few years ago so I could complete my degree and have kinda regretted it ever since as all my friends and family live 40 miles away. Anyways, a couple of weks ago, we made the decision to move back home and have been offered a 3 bed semi in my hometown of Stockport at a reasonable rate :D:D:D Also the school we are in catchment area is better on the ofsted reports in stockport than the one in crewe so should be better for DS. We will be right next door to a huge park and 5 mins away from local bus routes etc.
My brother going looking at house for me tomorrow (hes 20 but a carpenter so knows what he looking at, also he is an 'old' 20) and all being well should be moving in 2 weeks or so.... soooooo excited :j:j:j

hope all had a good weekend :D

((((hugs ))))) to all who need em

    Hi nic1lou,

I can tell you how I made it because this time I was sensible enough to put the recipe on the label so I'd know how to do it again! :D Usually I forget the recipe and it never tastes the same when I make it again. :o

1 75 cl bottle gin (tesco value)
    450g raspberries
    350g sugar

Add all ingredients to a bottle...I used a large kilner jar. Give it a good stir and then stir daily until all the sugar is dissolved. Leave as long as you like to let the taste mature (I usually leave it for at least three months) then strain through muslin and bottle.

You can use any fruit really, I've got peach on the go at the moment and some blackberry that should be ready soon. The recipe works equally well with gin or vodka and you can play about with the sugar quantity if you prefer a sweeter or more tart version. I drink it as a liqueur because I think it would be a shame to dilute the flavour but I'm sure you could try mixing it with different things if you wanted to.
