BUT Oh Great One:D I do like to thank people who also make me laugh and I think it would be a shame to do away with it

I know jinky. Which is why we really should all take things as they come. It's only a forum, a thing that happens on a screen in a corner of our room - I personally don't really care who thanks who and for what reason, but many users are very sensitive to this, so... Dunno. I can't get worked up about it either way.
Be careful who you open up to. Today it's ears, tomorrow it's mouth.

It has some uses in the advanced social networking, usergroups and advanced profiles features that you can have with this new forum software.

MSE have those features disabled which is why it is sitting there looking a bit pointless. ;)

So the only way to see if a friend is online now would be to troll through the whole list of online users which is never in complete alphabetical order as there are usually 2 alphabetical lists in one!!!! I found the buddy list useful to see if someone was online in case I wanted to pm them and get a quick reply.

    Where?

I can't see that they have turned that on?
sorry, my mistake, that was me getting imajinative :o being overwhelmed by the changes

when I logged in, I had a PM waiting and there was a box ready to reply with paragrahps in quotes - don't know if it was just a one off case, so I assumed that we have the same over posts as well

Yep. It is a major pain now.

Even if you had happened to bookmark their profile page, the doesn't show whether someone is online any more either.

    :eek::eek::eek::eek::eek:, It's more important than that:p

I think the thanks count does have a use, I look at a lot of boards,
    most I ain't got a clue about:o
if you see someone with a large thanks count and post count, you feel more trusting to them:A

Yes but if someone sees someone has say 1,000 thanks and only 150 are for help and advice they would think that they were thanked 1,000 for help and advice when really 850 were for stupid posts. I'll shut up now i'm not explaining myself well am I? :D
Totally agree, but if you can't thank people via a button, threads will fill up with useless "Thanks!" posts instead.

Hello there, i am having a problem.

The only way i have been able to find other posts by me is by clicking username and clicking find other posts (by me) The only ones that are coming up are the ones posted before the shut down. I was told to click public profile and click find more posts (byme) there but the same thing happens. How else can i find my previous posts please
make the most of it, we are only here for the weekend.
and we will never, ever return.
