Hi there,
Thanks for that, I've tried it and I feel a step closer, but not quite there. I linked it up like you said, but although I appeared to do all of the things needed to get the wireless up and running (I think it worked, tbh), I then couldn't go on the internet on my PC. I can only assume that I could have done on my Playstation 3, though. Do I need to do something to my PC. I assumed that as an ethernet cable ran from the wireless router to the PC now, I would be able to access the internet like that. I also assume that my PC would not be able to pick up the wireless signal, or am I mistaken in that? To get on here and post this question, I have had to take the wireless router out of the loop and put it back to how it originally was. Any suggestions, please?
Thanks again.

Hope it's not bad form to bump this one back up, as I fear that once a thread has gone from the main page, it doesn't get looked at? Anyway, hopefully someone can advise?
Thanks very much!

Is it an ADSL router or a DSL router (You need DSL for cable):idea:0

Hi,
I'll check when I get home from work, but I'd assume its a DSL, as "VIRGIN" was mentioned in the decription of the product when I got it from EBAY....
Thanks,

Assuming it is, try the basics (Make sure everythings conencted via ethernet cable)~
Switch off the modem, router, PS3 and pc
Power up the modem and wait till its settled
Power up the router and wait till its settled
Power up your pc (Should now work)
Power up the PS3 (Should also work):idea:0 -
So, I should be able to use my PC using the ethernet cable just as I used to, and the PS3 in a seperate room, using wireless? I'll post how I get on when I get home and the kids are in bed!
Thanks again.

yes
But you need to log into the router to setup security settings and create a 'passkey' which you then use on your PS3 to be able to use the router:idea:0 -
Thanks for all the help. I managed to get on line and play on the PS3 this evening. I'm a bit foolish, as I didn't set the security settings before doing it. They look really daunting. I know I have to do it, though. I'll give it a try before I go on the PS3 again (on line). Do I need to turn my router off every time I am not actually using it, by the way, for security reasons?
Thanks again.

You dont need to switch the router off once youve set security on it. But until you DO you should:idea:0

I do agree with this but I must say here is nothing more secure than having it switched off, personally I don't bother but if it makes you feel better then go for it.Have my first business premises (+4th business) 01/11/2017
