So, I've wasted my money!? I imagine I would have got the normal one with the playstation anyway? Will I gain no benefit at all in having the gold one, then? LOL.

Don't quote me on it, but I don't think you get an HDMI cable with the PS3.

imho its pointless, you can get an xbox for much less and the games look the same.

i dont mean to start a ps3 vs 360 fight i will conceed the ps3 hardware is slightly better but they arnt selling enough consoles to build up a user base for devs and by the time the console its its limts ms will ship a xbox 720.

With your attitude people would never buy anything because something better "might" come out sometime in the future.
The op is looking for the best deal on a PS3, not "Which console should i get".

ah but what are the games bundled with it? at hmv they will let you exchange anything within a package for something else of equivalent value. of course it would have to be something relatable to it. what i mean is i dont think they would want you to exchange a game for a couple of music cds.
again i dont work for them.

nope, they would buy the thing that is best value for the time they will use it.

a ps3 is basicly a box for playing computer games, an xbox 360 is a different box that plays for the most part the same games and costs less.

given the name of the site we are on its hardly a surprise people would offer an option to save cash.

But the xbox can't play Blu ray which cost over a 100 quid. and is one of the best Blu ray players out there for the money.

    so very money saving.

What is Blu Ray? I am considering getting a PS3 for my sons. They are saving their pocket money, and DH and I have agreed to match them for half of the total price. They are total PS2 fans, so natural progression is the PS3 (they are age 10 and 13), so would play games on it and watch DVDs as it will be in their bedroom.

its basicly a higher capacity dvd, if you have a hidef tv, are willing to spend the extra on blueray disks, good eyesight and sit close enough to the tv it matters otherwise dont worry, the internet will be along shortly to kill it.

fyi a point they should be awair of is the ps3 isnt really backwards compatible with ps2 games any more

Good eyesight...my dad doesn't need his glasses now because of the picture quality.....and the PS3 (PAL) is NOT backwards compatible.

Epz you're talking out your butt

and only the 60gb model only ever played PS2 games and that hasn't been sold in the UK for ages.

and why would you want to play old games on a system thats designed for the latest...kinda defeats the object of buying a new games console.

Again if you just want a games console then buy an Xbox360 if you want more then buy a PS3
