No because the viruses are aimed at windows machines (Which the PS3 clearly isnt)

Nope. It's like a Mac in that sense, it's not susceptible to viruses... yet. Pretty much all viruses are created to !!!! with Windows.

As with all viruses they are made to get the maximum number of people, hence with Macs and PS3s shouldn't have a problem.

But one day it could change but its not worth worrying about.

i have noticed it uses trend micro for security. i dont really see the point in being able to surf the net on the ps3. well if you have an internet connection then logically you have a pc. so you would just use your pc to surf the net wouldnt you?

i think that trend micro thing is content filtering rather than anti-virus.

and yes, the browser is crap on the ps3 (but its better than nothing!).

It was a godsend to me recently when my pc went boots-up & took a fortnight to fix. It's also quite good to view some sites on a 40"+ screen........:D

The ps3 is also quieter than my pc and it boots up quicker. It's handy being quieter if you're surfing late at night or early in the morning.

A big plus for the PS3 is also being able to use BBC iPlayer on a 42" screen. Watched pretty much all of the Apparitions series on my PS3. Brilliant.

    thats a good point.

what is it like for watching video clips from the net? personally i find picture quality can be iffy on a pc but i dont know whether that is down to the pc, the monitor or the websites themselves.
