Hi, this is the Daily Thread for April 3rd 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning..... Looks to be another warm dry day down this way. It's not perfect by any means, but getting there. Friday, so last day for me at work, then 4 days off.
Son's birthday went well, found some steak in Asda on offer at £8 per kilo which is OK, turned out nice as I cooked it on the BBQ. Nice bit of red to wash it down.
Did not sleep too well last night after eating so much. A large delicious Philps pasty from Hayle yesterday was perhaps the wrong move knowing I was going to pig out at tea time too. Still had to be done.
Mum in law had a new kidney this week. She has been on dialysis for a few years now, but on Monday found her a kidney and popped it in. Seems to be doing OK. Visiting tomorrow and Plymout city while we are at it. OH got her first pay packet since 20 Feb, so wants to buy some things.
Well, folks have a nice weekend seeing this site will be worked on over the weekend.
Hope they don't mess it up!

Morning peeps
i`ve been bad........................... i fell asleep here in front of the pc whilst reading the forum :rotfl: at least i`m up early on my day off.
I can`t really remember much from yesterdays thread late on so ((((HUGS))) for everyone today, the old memory isnt too good anyway but my excuse is that i`ve slept since
i`m on my second cuppa and the wm and dw are happilly doing their work in the kitchen, the bm has finished and i`ve emptied it already. I shall pop down the garden to open the greenhouse window soon.
I had to put the heating on a low setting last night as it really turned cold again, thought that was behind us really but never mind. It`s still economy 7 time so i`ve turned the immersion heater on for a while as i need some hot water later. I have around 50 or 60 plant pots and tubs that need a good scrub so i shall do those and hopefully get some bits and bobs put in them today, i used the glitch on the Thompson and Morgan site that was posted on hotukdeals yesterday, lots of plants for less than £3 delivered so i hope that they turn upi shall keep an eye out for any more.
I`m toying with the idea of doing an early morning run to MrA for a few offers and to fill up with petrol at the garage nearby, i need to check what time the garage opens and also check the price then i may nip off to do this.
I shall catch up with everyone later before we lose the forum for the weekend.
Have a good day everyone.

Good Morning
Best wishes for your MIL N9eav
Dont know what the weather is doing at the moment but it certainly is mild.
Guess I will get loads done over the weekend as the site is down, really going to miss it though.
Today will be a mixture of office work housework and washing. Cleared the ironing pile which was a result.
Have leftover chicken cooked with rice for tea then I am off to a friends for a girly night in, just need to buy some chocolates to take with me so quite a cheap night.
Have a great day.

Morning all, misty here too, so another nice day I hope, off to work today, and its very busy so the time flyes past :T . DD is on an inset day, so her and the dog will stay at home, I will get her to clean her [STRIKE]pit[/STRIKE] bedroom  , and hoover through for me.
Dinner tonight is going to be cooked by dd, (what a slave driver I am) pizza salad and garlic bread, so nice and easy.
I am not sure what I will do all weekend without the forums, might have to resort to talking to the OH:rotfl:. We will be out walking all day tomorrow, hopefully it will be a nice day, and not sure what we are up to sunday yet, but I am sure we will keep busy.
N9eav, hope your mil continues to recover.
Hugs where needed, and congrats to those celebrating over the weekend, might see some of you on facebook.
Be carefull out there :rotfl:0 -
Morning everyone,it's realy dull here.We had a fog sweep over us last night and it got realy cold, but at least it's warmer now and I'm hoping for another beautiful day like yesterday.
I'm so excited,(sad realy) but yesterday I managed to get myself a regular window cleaner. After 3 years of living here,I can now see out of my upstairs windows. It's great.
As OH said "simple things please simple minds"(LOL)
Today I'm going into town,I have some tops I bought to take back.Looked much better on the hanger.
I also want to varnish my garden furniture before I go.I managed to paint the shed and other wooden bits and bobs yesterday, they are now a lovely shade of duck egg.
This week has flown over,I can't believe it's Friday.
I expect that I'll get loads done,(what with MSE being down)over the weekend.Provided the weather stays nice.
Hope everyone is ok,(((hugs))) to all that need them.
Have a good couple of days everyone..........0 -
Morning :hello:
I'm nearly at the end of my FRO fortnight, I feel fabSo fab, that I'm going to repeat it every fortnight for the rest of my life :rotfl:
Mr tru built up a decent amount of commission from a carpet manufacturer, he could choose between a number of electrical items. We decided on a new TV - ours is big and bulky and we wanted a nice skinny oneI declared that it had to be no bigger than 32", preferably 28". The rep told him that he could use the commission as part payment towards something more expensive. He came home the other day with a 37" monster  I'm furious, I hate having the TV as a focal point in a room. It's way too big, too ugly, too imposing. He did get a good deal on it so it only cost us £91 of our own money but even so....... I can't believe I have to watch CSI on it. I asked him to think about how much compensation I should get for having to put up with the thing for the next 10 years
Anyway, my seedlings are coming up brilliantly. Except the celery, but I took a gamble planting three year old seeds and lostI'll pick some more up today. I'm determined to keep 4 poinsettias going til Christmas, they usually die by the end of january but they seem quite happy (if a bit straggly) in the greenhouse at the mo.
I've had no luck finding chicks so far, I'm determined to get some this year. Mr tru's not so keen but if he argues I'll smash the TV over his head.
I finally watched it. I know I'm the last person in the world to watch it, but I watched it last night. Mamma Mia. Oh dear, pure cheese. What a waste of 2 hours. Julie Walters was fab though.
Oh I really hate that TV.Bulletproof0 -
Morning Everyone
A little overcast here this morning, and seems to have rained overnight, forecast for tomorrow onwards is good, so that is great for the Easter holidaymakers.
Seem to have woke the body into disposing of some weight, not a lot but at least a movement, and the clothes are not longer straining:o . Totally bored of going out and having water and/or Diet Coke though:rolleyes: , Kept up the hours walking, and found loads of new coastal walks which have been great.
OS wise normal cooking/cleaning, Lidl shopping and doing odd jobs.
Been invited out on Sunday to watch the Palm Sunday parade, and lunch, so that may fill some of the MSE gap. :rotfl:
Smokey/P-Pin hope you both had good breaks, and anyone else having an easter hols.
NPM - (((hugs)))
Beth think you are on the right track with DD.
"Old-agers" moment can' remember the rest so :grouphug: , , :hello:

Morning all
Up earlier than usual today! We actually slept in..........well DH did. Wole at 7.30 and he is supposed to start work at 7am. Anyone else notice a slight problem with this?! :rotfl:
Terrible to say but it worked to my advantage, I have got up, got myself sorted, hoovered the house, had breakfast for the first time in ages! Not too sure what to do with myself now!
Plans for today are to pop into Mr A. Need to go sort out some Easter things for my little neices and nephew. Really dont want to buy them chocolate as they get enough of the stuff............and well my youngest neice has a dairy intolerance so obviously chocolate is a no no. Must get my thinking cap on. We also have 5 birthdays this month! Still suppose is gets them all over with! Might pop onto ebay and see what I can find.
DH is out tonight so I am planning a nice night of pampering, need to get me back as me! Im a real girlie girl and lately (simply because I havent been well) I have really stopped being 'me' Time to get back on track I think!
Hope you all have a great day
Linz xoxoxoIts hard to wait around for that something you know may never happen, but its harder to give up when you know its everything you ever wanted.........
People tell me Im going the wrong way..............when its simply a way of my own!0 -
Hi guys,
The camp I booked with phoned me with the so-sorry overbooked yesterday  so I am waiting on a phone call today (mostly other s-c's are full ) on one ''that may have a place but the computer is down'' or will plump for Haven (dearer!). The problem with some of the others is that I don't drive and need to be either on a bus route, or within walking distance of a town, being by a beach is also a must.Anyway I am not panicking yet. I am done spending hours on the net though!! too much to do here.
I need to clean through, change the beds, weed and feed the back, wash, dry, ironing, pack, beautify myself :rotfl: sort out the bin and recycling, see my financial advisor later (app made before I decided on the hol), make 3 phonecalls, cut the boys hair and trim DD's fringe and lots of other things that will probably come to me through the day.
MSD and NPM, Gentle hugs to you both and to everyone else who needs one today.xxx
Pen-pin, enjoy your break hun you deserve it. xxxx
See you later,
Smoky. xxxxIf you are patient in one moment of anger, you will escape 100 days of sorrow.......Chinese proverb

Loopylinz - if you are off to Mr A look out for the offers. I just got back from there and the seriosly strong cheddar is £2 for 400g and the triple velvet loo rolls are £3 for 16. I got quite a few bargains from there this morning so i am very pleased.
The petrol station had just opened so i filled up the car so that should last another 3 to 4 weeks and i`ve paid the complete - waste- of - money council tax, it`s the thing that i begrudge paying the most
I`m off to walk the houndies shortly and then i shall make soup and some muffins before venturing out into the garden. The weather is dull, cold and misty atm so i`ve left the washing in the machine for the time being. Hopefully the sun will be out soon to burn the mist off.
See you later peeps.
SDPlanning on starting the GC again soon0
