  • Hey ladies (and guys- u do it too!) I recently had Botox for the first time and the results have been amazing!!! I'm 30, early to start I know but I've had very deep frown lines for as long as I can remember - it's a family thing. I'm really pleased with the results and have been told that it's ok to start as early as I have as it will prevent the lines becoming deeper and sagging later in life even if I do decided to stop later on, prolongs it, I did my research and visited many clinics which all varied in price but what caught my attention the most was some of these people have no medical qualifications at all!! The administer of the injections should have an upto medical licence to carry this out. Long story short I went to an independent aesthetics lady, she was a nurse who worked in ICU who started working mobile, she charged me £200 for three areas, took before and afters and two weeks later came back to give a free top up to the areas where there was a slight pinch. Well happy. Hopes this helped x
  • I've had it done and as a male we have to have more initially, that's not a problem though... it is straight forward and slightly painless.

Prices do vary, the closer you are to areas where more people have it, you will notice the price goes down. The prices you have been quoted are steep! To say the least... I've had it done in a Crawley clinic (near Gatwick) at the cost of £260 for 3 areas and after your first visit you are invited back up to 10 after to check the results and maybe top-up if needed...

The results are great, although you don't walk out with a brand new face or does it look too dissimilar to when you walked in accept a little red with what look like tiny blemishes... the point is after two or three days then you start to see the magic happen and the fear a lot of people have regarding the myth of the frozen face is completely false...

Suggest you shop around and check as some Doctors surgies offer it too... good luck and enjoy, oh and also, when you go for refill... (sounds wrong) but when you do, I was advised 6 monthes and then progressively longer periods as it doesn't wear off as quickly thereafter... :j
  • Fascinating thread! I had Restylane in my frown line several years ago and was really pleased with the result and it lasted much longer than anticipated. However, the dear old frown line is back and I was thinking of having more Restylane. Having read so many comments here about having Botox for a frown line, I'm curious to know if that's considered more effective than a filler?

Also, can anyone advise on what questions one should ask before allowing the person near you with a syringe? I gather asking about insurance is key but what should the ideal answer be - ie, is there a type and level of insurance they should have? And what kind or training or registration should they have (in England).

Many thanks in advance >:) (frown line smiley)

    Hey guys,

I've recently had Botox at age 35. Main reason was for my crowlines when I smiled. While I didn't have any frownlines on my forehead, I did go for 3 areas at a cost of £250. (Birmingham based)

Good price and the doctor was very experienced and talk me about the pro and cons and what to expect.

Very happy with the results with my crowlines going after 3 days. I did have movement and don't have that frozen look.

Without a shadow of doubt, one of the best things I've done for myself. Will work out, cost wise, 500 to 750 a year.

All I'd say is do your research and talk to the practitioner before agreeing.

    Which salon in brum?
  • Hi Mojy

I wonder if you know of any reputable medical clinics who do botox in Edinburgh that don't cost a fortune?

Failing that, are you allowed to tell me the name of the clinic you went to in Glasgow, or provide the post code?

    Many thanks

I have used Fresh faced in Glasgow, they are based in Royston, they also have other outlets.https://www.freshfaced.com. can defo recommend, very professional.
  • I have been looking for a good Botox/ filler doctor and came across this thread. I have used Skinviva myself, Dr Pearce and my personal experience was not that great, I have tried nurses in the past too and I thought they were better than Skinviva. Sometimes premium prices does not equal to premium service.
  • And regarding reviews I find them hard to believe when they have too many, who sits down to write a 5 star review when your happy, you only do a review when your not happy.
