If you have the confidence to make your own wedding cake then why not have a bash at flowers? You can buy very cheap roses from Aldi, netto etc and then bunch them together with an organza strip. Or even buy some very wide ribbon and wind the stems and finish with a bow. being married in December you could always do what I did and search the hedgerows for ivy. Some ivy has a kind of flower which looks wonderful in a bouquet.
Bunch everything together. You coulp practice buy using a loo roll to hold everything together to get started with.
Sometimes, cake makers have a great selection of desorations to buy off the shelf. They have novelty "bride and groom" characters that sit on the top. Very quirky.
There are some great script fonts to download from the internet but it sounds like you may already be sorted with that.
Someone said they were going to make their own runners. These look stunning with tea lights and dried rose petals scattered over them. Add dustings of glitter too. (could be cheaper than crystals)
Sounds like you have everything sorted.:j0 -
Hi Linda, I have already started making my flowers, have made both the bridesmaids bouquets and I am really chuffed with them. Will post pics later today. I think I have a clear cut idea of what I want, although I am toying with the idea of votive candles in clear glass holders, almost like tumblers, to go with the pillar candles.
Violetta I will email you shortly with the invitation template, I wish I could remember the website lol!!

Good for you. You'll feel pleased as punch when you look back at the piccys and think, "I made that" Just be careful not to take too much on. remember, you have to enjoy the day too. x0

Just to add, you can buy stick on jewels to add to the tumblers if need be. Just a thought.0

Here are the wedding flowers
I am going to tie some organza ribbon around the stems of the flowers to make a bow, but I can't decide if I should go for burgundy or ivory?

I would go for ivory. The bouquet is stunning (well done you) but very simple and personally, I think you need to keep it simple. Less is more so they say and by adding burgundy it will be quite a lot for the eye to take in.
I once did a wedding where the bride was married in ivory and silver. Her bridesmaids were in dusky pink. Instead of adding accents of dusky pink, she had pink flowers, pink head pieces, ivory fans opene with pink flowers on. The pink completely dominated the colour scheme because of it's intensity. Accents are good, to much will over power. Hope you don't mind the comment. :beer:0 -
I don't mind the comment at all Linda. We do want it very simple, hence the bouquets being simple. The bridesmaids will be having burgundy dresses with the ivory bouquets. My dress is going to be ivory with a burgundy rose bouquet, so it is all a mirror image of the colours really. This may seem like a daft thing to do, but as you are doing the table decorations yourself, have you thought of laying up a table to see how it works and then photographing it?
It's a great way to get an overall picture and this is what you'll be looking back on in years time.0 -

=====================>>>>>CRYSTAL TREEEEEEE! I am mad about the idea.
I want to make one myself and hang on it some white cristmas lights and strings of acrylic beads and maybe white/silver/ivory butterflies on fishing line. Of course i will be using acrylic beads.
Oooh oooh I love your idea of diamante pins in the pillar candles, I love pillar candles! Is it the floral pins that you are using? (mmm I wonder if they only use them in silk flowers or also in fresh ones???)
