If you want to be safe you really should use FIREFOX with the NOSCRIPT plugin (Stops 'drive by' viruses, which IE doesnt)

Cheers, aliEnRIK, that's the first thing I'll do after downloading Firefox, followed by the IE tab suggested by frugalmacdugal! I'm also going to ditch the duff McAfee Site Advisor that allowed a trojan in last week!

I'm looking forward to using Firefox (I need to get out more)! :D

I'm using Firefox now and it's great - better than Microsoft!

All I'm missing is MSE's spell-checker and my (vast) list of favourites in IE7 (I feel a bit lost without them)! ;)

When installing firefox you should have had the option to IMPORT your favs from internet explorer?

The GOOGLE TOOLBAR has a built in spell checker ~
    http://www.google.com/tools/firefox/toolbar/FT5/intl/en-GB/index.html

    NOSCRIPT
    https://addons.mozilla.org/en-US/firefox/addon/722

NOSCRIPT works by blocking ALL website scripts (Which is how dodgy websites infect your computer ~ the easiest way to catch a virus after downloading). So you need to UNLOCK all websites you use for them to work properly (Like this one for example)
It also prevents 'page hijacking' (clicking to goto a BANK page for example and being redirected to a BOGUS page which would give scammers your login details!)
I personally set it so that it DOESNT show messages about blocked scripts. Then all you need to do is use common sense. Think to yourself 'does the site work ok'? If so it doesnt need touching. But if you wanted to watch a video on youtube say, youd need to unlock parts of it. Look bottom right, If theres ANY red on the 'S' symbol, then something is being blocked.

(You will also need the other addons like FLASH etc)

There is also a spell check add on here that is very good.

    Thanks guys!

I didn't see any option to import favourites during the download, unfortunately! It has imported some, but only a small proportion. Also, it seems to only have exported sites that are in folders, not the ones that I saved the general 'favourites' setting. I would do this because they would be listed separately at the bottom and I used it as a 'to do' list!

I don't suppose it's possible to import the whole list of favourites, after download is it?

If not, it's no great hardship - Firefox is brilliant - and I can access them via explorer!

    One more question re: Firefox!

Everytime I click on Martin's 31 March e-mail, I get a broken link! Is it a Firefox problem? My NoScript setting for MSE is on 'Scripts Currently Allowed'. How can I fix it?

    Hiya frugalmacdugal,
Yeh, I want a new avatar and I keep meaning to change it - to a dancing one, but haven't quite got round to it! See ya!
