E7/Firefox query!

Please can someone answer a few questions? Sorry, if they sound daft to you experienced techies, but I'm in the dark on this one!
After recent security problems with E7 I've decided to install Firefox for general use (but retain E7 for the occasional site that won't operate properly with Firefox).
As E7 is already installed, if I then install and run Firefox, will one interfere with the other? Is there anything I should set or switch off/on on either?
Finally, how do I swap between them easily (assuming that I'd want to select Firefox as my default option - not that I know how to do that, either)?
Thanks in advance guys!

When I installed Firefox it replaced IE7 on the start menu but it's still there in programs so I can use it if I want. It won't interfere with Firefox or vice versa.0

Don't remove IE as it is part of Windows, it is needed by the OS even if you use Firefox as the default. When you download it and open the first time, it it asks you if you want to set it as the default browser. Web browsers don't interfere with each other, you can have as many as as you like (I have 4 at present).
You can easily swap by putting shortcuts onto your desktop for both or switching them from the Start menu.No free lunch, and no free laptop

Thanks for your speedy replies!
Great, it seems straightforward enough, (I didn't intend to remove E7, by the way)!
One last thing, I don't want E7 to automatically update to E8 (until Microsoft has ironed out any initial bugs). So, how do I stop Explorer automatically updating itself? Thanks.0 -
Im not 100% as Microsoft keep on moving the goalposts. But usually ~ something as big as installing IE8 or suchlike it will ASK you. Just click 'cancel' when it pops up
Or change the settings so it lets you know when there ARE available downloads and only tick the ones you want:idea:0 -
Thanks, aliEnRIK,
Just in case it doesn't ask first, how do I change the settings?

Press the WINDOWS key and the PAUSE/BREAK keys together and goto WINDOWS UPDATE to configure the settings:idea:0

You can always go back to an earlier version of IE by deleting the newest one, I use IE6 because I don't like IE7.
I use Firefox and Opera as well, without any problems.0 -
Inactive - Ta, but I'm used to IE7 now.
Thanks aliEnRIK - that's fab! (I've now changed the settings to notify me, first)!
