    Hello fad1211

I've merged your thread with this existing 'Getting rid of rats/mice' thread. If you read back from post #1, you'll find lots of information.

We always just use traps. The Spanish ones are very effective and kill the mouse instantly.

What is a spanish mouse trap? Tried googling without result.

Primrose London device beyond my mouse control budget.

I too have used the electronic type, and have been very impressed, its still plugged in behind the washing machine so its not showing, and its still there after a whole year and as far as I'm aware its still working, as 'touch wood', I havent seen or heard anything since.:D

OKay dellboy102 and jellybeans have both vouched for the Primrose device.

misgrace are you referring to the Primrose rodent repeller or is there some other device you used?

Since there's been two thumbs up for Primrose I may just buy that one.
  • Quick update, I've asked everyone in the house and no one has spotted a mouse or heard anything since we've used the primrose one so I think it may actually be working!.

For those who buy it please post your experiences in this thread.
  • from the primrose website:

Where do I plug it in? Pretty much any socket in the house. The device uses two systems: Electromagnetic and Ultrasound.
The ultrasound creates a loud noise at a high frequency that only rodents can hear: imagine that for a mouse, it's like having a smoke alarm going off constantly. Becuase ultrasound doesn't pass well through solid objects (that's why doctors can use ultrasound to get images of babies in the womb) this will be most effective in the room you plug it into to. Consequently, if you plug the device into the room where you've seen most activity, you're maximising the effect of both control methods.

The ultrasonic part of the whole house repeller won't work if it's plugged in behind something as it will block the signal (electromagentic bit should still work though). I made sure mine was plugged in a room in the centre of the flat so that the electrical pulse was sent out centrally in the flat and hopefully goes everywhere! I was also paranoid about the mice coming back so got 3 of the small ultrasound only repellers and plugged them in the other rooms (unblocked by objects). So far it has worked! Don't know if it is because of the electromagnetic or ultrasound though... but the whole house repeller has both if you don't block the ultrasound (hope I understood this right from the instructions!) misgrace, if your's is the whole house repeller and it's working, I'd guess it's the electromagnetic that is keeping them away!
Loving knitting for the Wooligans! :j my totals:

    Jellybeans
    22 baby hats ; 3 Teddies for Tragedies ; 15 buntings ; 9 boobs ; 2 baby blankets ;
    8 Innocent Smoothie hats ; 2 Scarves ; 4 Adult hats ; 6 Aaron squares ; 12 hedgehogs

Looks like I will go and buy one aswell. I did previously buy other plug in gadgets, but the damn mice would dance around it and not give a toss. Fingers cross, lets hope this one works. I will keep you all posted.

Found out I had a mouse last night, I was out getting bladdered and my brother was babysitting text me to let me know there was one behind my tele stand.

Cheers, totally ruined my night, cos I'm a big wuss and petrified of mice/rats. Woke up this morning to see the wooden threshold chewed up a little bit.
Will they chew my wires and stuff??
Will have to wait til payday to get one of these primrose ultrasound/electromagnet things now.
    Just a question though
Does it matter how high or low they get plugged in??
If I want to put one in my kitchen it will be above the work tops, in the living room it will be at ankle level. Which would be best??

You can find it here and I don't think you will have to pay delivery on the original £26 cost, however Amazon don't give you that 45 day guarantee.

There's one good review and one bad review. I'm a bit unsure now as to what to do I still haven't bought it. I think I'll still buy it from Primrose.

I bought this ultrasonic plug in device from B+Q - never had a problem since (and I used to get occasional mouse visitors - maybe because I'm on the edge of open countryside) Poison didn't work, and they were too cute to get caught in a mousetrap (humane variety or otherwise).
