Its hard to judge how good these are but we had visits from mice and now we dont, also the scratching in the attic has stopped. Its a JML thing, you should be able to get it locally.0

Hi Yasmin,
There's an older thread that may help so I've merged your thread with it to keep all the suggestions together.

Coming up to winter and living out in the hills has seen the return of mice to my house again. Got a cat who is selective / lazy and tends to leave gory bits ( thin strip of fir with eyes still attached ) .
I have been using nipper mouse traps but hate getting the remains off and the final straw was when it caught one last week and the snap bit was embedded firmly round the mouses face so threw the lot out.
I am now trying another sort of trap that basically works the same but has a lever to pull back to release the corpse.
I did see the JML thing in Wilkos at £19.99 and was tempted, it says it sends the pulses through the wiring system so protects the whole house , has anyone tried this gadget ?WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..
Blimey what was that ?
That was your life mate
Oh I wasn’t quite ready can I have another go ?
Sorry mate only one per person.0 -
I was told by my local pest control officer that I should bait traps with rolos as rats and mice love 'em as they have to hang around on the trap licking the chocolate to get at the toffee centres then snap! One very dead rat/mouse.
Now that the Rover works has been demolished all the surrounding houses and flats are inundated with homeless rats - I have invested in a Large Nipper Rat Trap and it works a treat.0 -
No Mouse or Rat is going to get my last Rolo or the first or the ones in between :cool:WHOOOOSHHHHHHHHH……..

Tonight I was in the loft when a little house mouse sauntered past, bold as brass!
I'm in a bit of a quandary on what to do. There's not huge piles of droppings anywhere that I can see so I suspect there's not that many. Should I just leave them alone or do I run the risk of being overrun? Any thoughts on what damage they could do?
I've had them in the garage in the past and used live capture traps pretty successfully. Obviously they're a lot less practical in a loft as they need to be checked frequently. I won't use killer traps or poison as I don't believe in killing an animal just for trying to live somewhere warm and dry, and I can't use one of these plug-in devices as I have guinea pigs.
Is there anything else I could do to encourage them to vacate the premises or should I just leave them alone?
Thanks0 -
you can use humaine traps, but this does mean checking daily, if you dont do anything there is a possibility you will be overrun, your loft is a warm place for a nest.
you need to find out how they are getting in too0 -
yes get on top of this now or you will regret it! Mice can produce a litter every six weeks I think so trouble ahead.
B&Q do a good humane trap that really works but not very well for younger specimens so that in combination with killer traps should get rid.
DO NOT bother with ultra-sonic jobs I tried these and once watched a mouse stroll calmly right by it! Useless!0 -
