CW18-Wish you'd come and help at my school. I love help and my children love maths...you could play lots of MS counting games with them.
I'm really enjoying it :D Plus it gets me out of the house once a week at a set time which I think does me good :)

I reckon the children and I are doing OK.... the boys tend to be more "stand-offish", but we had one who didn't want to stay yesterday and one who got upset over something today - both of whom let me comfort them and encourage them to go play with the others (something I can do since Easter, as before then - without my police check - I couldn't be left alone with or touch them).

And today there was a table with Moon Sand -- those who know the stuff will know what a mess it makes!! It was supposed to be kept on a couple of trays, but kids will be kids and it was forever on the table (and chairs and floor and children). There were two girls in particular who were at this, and they were giggling for fun with my constant "ticking off" about the mess I was sweeping up (I prefer to stay on top of it before it spreads right round the room).

The teacher was asking me this afternoon (when I went back to collect younger GD at 2pm) if was looking for work, and when I said I was potentially looking at child-minding or fostering - so I can be around for my GDs on school days - she said she thought I'd manage fine with either. I also said if I look for work outside the home I think I'd rather do part-time (as long as the finances stack up), which she seemed to perk up at. Got the impression that if something turns up in school (another TA position) she may well mention it to me, and if I need a reference for anything (especially child-care related) I'm not going to have a problem getting a good one from her. Either of these would be a bonus :T

    Hi fruguys and gals :)

Andromache, glad you have things sorted out and clear in your own mind and I'm sure the bf will soon recover; men seem much more resilient than women - my ex recovered incredibly quickly and even managed to find a new wife within a few months of the divorce! :rotfl:

SFT I'll share all the fuel tips I can muster but biggest one is if you're burning wood, my logman says it's much cheaper to buy it green then cut it and season it yourself if you have the space for it. I'm going to do my best to make space for next winter's logs and start stacking them as soon as I possibly can. That and the gathering of sticks and fir cones for kindling. I'm hoping SM and I won't end up squabbling like teenagers over cones in the forest. I should maybe sneak in a few extra foraging trips before she gets back her hols so I'm well up on the game. :rotfl:

Apologies for the miss-spelling of bahoochie, it's just that when we spell it with the 'ch', non-Scots think it's pronounced 'ch' as in chips. :D I've actually got HS pronouncing the 'ch' now and he's from waaaaaay down south near where BB is :D

    Hi

Michelle - Oh my goodness, I am worn out just reading your post! Remarkable :) You take care of yourself missy, don't want you getting ill on us again!

Nyk - Absolutely NO idea what you said, my Glaswegian is about as gd as ur txt spk ;)

Andromache - I think you are absolutely doing the right thing not settling - you have the rest of your life, and it is top priority you are happy for it. I am also a fellow youth, being only 21....(alright, 22 in June!). I am sure that if you are honest with your OH, he will understand - if he cares, he will want you to be happy whatever.

Spent 60p today on a chocolate bar, as did not do any baking  Other than that, not much frugal news...I am really struggling with the 101 now. Maybe I will leave it at around 80, as I want to make a start on it on my birthday (15th June). I guess I can always add to it if I think of anything else.

CW - just spotted your post, well done! :)

SFT - LOADS of cones? :j Grab them all, as many as you can carry - they make fantastic kindling and give off a lovely pine smell when burning. You can also drip candlewax on them to make them burn better, they work like firelighters when dried and candlewax applied. Oh, and start saving all candle ends - grated candlewax is fab for reviving dying embers with a few cones & sticks. :)

Blairweech and other 'youngies', you're making me feel OLD - my DD is 22 next month  Please, from hereonin, pretend to be at least umm... 35 :rotfl:

Nyk - you feel old? My DD is 25 (26 in December), so imagine how I feel. My elder DS was 20 in March and my 'baby' will be 18 in July
