As I understand the whole house completion has been delayed 3 weeks until the tenants move out. It is actually legal to sell a property with "sitting tenants", but the buyer has to be aware of this (usually only happens when the buyer is buying the property to lease out).

    Hi Everyone!
Feeling a little low today. Despite having got great comments from a lesson observation this morning.

I suppose its that we are moving out Thursday and will have to wait 3 weeks before moving into our cottage. Was so looking forward to be in there for half term... Need someone to talk sense to me.

Can't really think about anything else at the moment.

    sorry

    sft

    Come on now SFT,

Pull yourself up and dust yourself down you will be in the cottage very soon. I would look into what Nyk said, you might be entitled to the rent payments for the next 3 weeks, if you don't ask, you don't get.

And..........................you wouldn't want a visit fae Skint fae Glesga tae help yi pull yersel thigither??????:rotfl:

Sorry, CW, I meant I didn't think it was legal to sell a tenanted house without informing the buyer (and the tenants) beforehand. Scottish law is different, (I don't even think there are such things as sitting tenancies any more, but I wish there were!), you can't just buy a house with tenants and then automatically assume those tenants will leave when given short notice. Likewise, all landlords need to be registered and this would all have to be done before final conclusion of missives, otherwise the tenants could find themselves with an illegal landlord etc, etc, etc - but I repeat, laws are different in Scotland and I'm sure tenancy agreements are different, as well. As the buyer, SFT could have been able to request a copy of the tenancy agreement but wasn't in a position to even know there was one in place.

Sorry SFT, not meaning to upset you, I'm sure none of this is relevant to your actual situation, I'm just trying to explain what I mean and not making a very good job of it. :o

    No I wouldn't!!!!!!!!!!!!

You are all absolutely right, of course...and so is Nyk..this weather doesn't help lift the mood. Apparently the owners will get it cleaned by that time too..my sister just said to me that it really needed it and I would spend a week doing it myself and not wanting to unpack anything until it was done.
I don't understand the legalities of it all..And I am now going to get a good nights sleep and cuddle up to Mr SFT.
You are all allowed to remind me of all this when I move in..I'm going to really miss the forum also when I'm at my parents as they just have dial up so I'm not sure I'll be on much..I'll have to go to 4k anon.

If it's any help, broadband barely works here but the MSE forums are accessible via dial up - I still use it now and again, especially when visiting the parents, who didn't have broadband unti last month or so. :rotfl:

No Spend Day for me today :j

I picked up the EasiYo yoghurt maker from a lovely lady on freecycle. It has not got the internal jar though, so will have to purchase one of them. Must make my way over to the EasiYo thread.

I love my easi yo blairwich - got mine on freecycle last year and it is permanantly in use. (Don't use the sachets - do my own with dried milk, starter from last batch and uht)
I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once
