Good morning from rain-lashed frugaldom
I am so sick of this bad weather! Went out this morning, got soaked (again) left the computer signing on but it wouldn't (again) eventually managed to get a signal but it's taken me ha;f an hour to get a connection to a website and I can't access the network to pick up work files (again!) I have every respect for anyone who has to work outside exposed to the elements fulltime - it can be rather soul destroying, to say the least.
KKP - I'm always one to give the benefit of the doubt and I am sure you don't really mean to offend anyone. I'm also sure that others don't mean to retaliate in what could be considered a hostile manner. We are here to support anyone who has debt, wants out of debt and has a very tight budget within which they must live. You are more than welcome to stick around - there are plenty here who can offer help. Some of us are genuinely skint and do, genuinely, live on the breadline to pay off/stay out of debt.
Lilo - Takeaways? :eek: I cannot remember the last time I had one of them. I am so jealous. I'm even jealous of the clothes everyone's returning as I can't remember the last time I was even in a real clothes shop. Oh, yes I can! 1st June 2008, when friend and I went our frugal cruise. :rotfl: What are 'English' bluebells? Are they different from ours? Our driveway is lined with them and the surrounding woods are full of them at the moment, lovely sight to see, but I don't know what particular type they are, just bluebells I thought.
Frugal things to be done this week - can't think of anything special, although we will be constructing the new poultry house (from flat pack) as soon as it gets delivered. And I didn't even need to pay for it, someone else did. :j

Morning eveyone.
As part of the challenge this week I will be rejigging my monthly budget as I have 2 debts paid off this month which leaves me £70 per week better off
I'm also going to meal plan as I have been getting lazy recently and popping to the shops most days which has led to over spending.lost my way but now I'm back ! roll on 2013

Nyk - English bluebell's are the UK native specie - we are being invaded by 'Spanish' bluebells which are a little different. OH is in the know on this sort of think but isn't in to give the finer detail at the mo.
And yes - I do need to return to bails asap. I need another sauna:D. If it's any help her doggie looks like a collie to me... :rotfl:
sft - thanks for your lovely response. Yes, that is first major 101 event ticked off. All mine are things like that - getting out and about or 'making things' type stuff.
Frugal wise his week, I basically need to spend as little as poss & shouldn't need to.
Am in the process of trying to persuade OH to have a total rethink of how we use our rooms. This would involve a huge change around of furniture and change of room we sleep in and he finds change very difficult to cope with. But I think we need to do it to accomodate more of his stuff stored else where to enable us to move forward as a couple. Without going into detail about his financial affairs, this could lead to getting rid of a financial millstone round his neck which is therefore draining my resources too.
Never easy when one of you knows how to sort out financial issues and the other is totally paralysed by them and refuses to take action through crippling fear. Long journey.I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -
Hi all,
Not much doing in rainy Glasgow today, the shop hasn't been busy but I've had a couple of half decent sales, and I am also working from home today.:D
My arm seems to be healing up well, I had to give it a shower yesterday, but it was itchy last night. DH said that is a good sign.
I have calmed down from last night, so I am in my usual serenene mood today.:A Hope big sister Nyk isn't going to give me into trouble for fighting, after all I am from Glesga, it's in the blood.:o
Will check in later. xx0 -

I've been looking on ebay but have the same problem: I really need one on ebay near me so I can pop over to try it first.
I'm sitting here having moved furniture all over the place and the contents of shelves all over the floor: if OH came home now he'd go into complete meltdown:rotfl:. Thought I'd give it a go and see how it would work (handy male lodger working form home today so he's doing the donkey work). Now slacking on sofa trying to crank myself up to do vicious declutter on all the carp now on the floor....
Ahhhh Lynne, you're from glasgae...everything is illuminated:D:rotfl:I try to take one day at a time, but sometimes several days attack me at once0 -

I definitely agree to having a try out: I've been able to do that at a local specialist shop. I think many shops do let you test ride: perhaps not halfords but more independent shops. So perhaps google shops local to yourself?

I am just not into people like that who are out to cause trouble BB, although in the cold light of day, I have learned, yet again, that perhaps silence is golden.:o I like to fight my (and my friend's corner). xx0 -
aw lynne, I was only teasing - you are a great and valued member of our lovely forum and I enjoy having you around very muchxx.

KKP - I'm giving you the benefit of the doubt and assuming you've not posted on such a nice Forum before so that you're slightly suspicious of how nice we all are!
I'm one of Nyk's frugalite gang because I wanted to do something for someone else moneywise and couldn't afford it if I didn't practise a bit of the "every penny's a prisoner " regime. (some escaped though and took a lot of their friends with them!) If you're cutting back on other areas so that you can spend more on your luxury toiletries, that's fine by us.
Shaz - Thanks for posting the bluebell picture. It's such a wet, windswept, miserable day here that it brightened up my day.
SL - Although I'm not from Glesca', I'm Scottish and sometimes succumb to the clannish "Whae dare meddle wi' us" attitude, so don't worry about venting momentarily.
NYK - Thanks for keeping us on the straight and narrow and for all your "chick flicks"." The greatest wealth is to live content with little."

Shaz, thank you for posting the bluebell photo, it looks amazing! We had to head out to the agri-store and have passed thousands and thousands of bluebells, although I'm still not convinced we'd call them English ours can be Scottish
I also spotted loads of wild mushrooms/fungi growing in the woodland that surrounds our drive. Stopped off at friend's house to collect rhubarb and have a cuppa and we've decided that there should be a foraging foray as soon as SM's here (and the sun starts shining) so we can access what free food is available in our 'neck of the woods', so that should be a good time to take a picnic and go exploring.
I still haven't completed my tax return. It would be a different matter if there was a whopping great tax return expected but all I can expect is a zero tax bill and an increase in my voluntary NI contributions just so I can retire at 68 and live a frugal life! It's just as well I've been practicing for a while already, the skills should be well honed in another 25 years ! :rotfl: But I do count my blessings - I live in a house with a garden in the countryside and, even although it's cold and wet, there's no way I'd swap it for single room rent and debt - been there, tried that, survived to tell the tale and have moved on by quite a bit. I'm still a very long way off ever buying a house and will probably never be eligible for a mortgage, but it doesn't seem to matter quite as much now I know there are nice people like SM in charge of residential care.
Or at least there will be until she's moved here as my next door neighbour in Frugaldom. :rotfl:
