I just watched 'Unloved', did anyone else watch it, it was so sad? I've been seeing children haing a hard time at work recently and it was very close to the truth I've seen.

Welcome aeb all the regular posters here are a friendly lot. Sometimes just writing it down helps - although I'm the last one to say that, I've not been posting lately. I've been so emotionally drained at work that I've come home and collapsed in the chair.

    Cheryl,

I'm sure that I read elsewhere that Mr T will honour these vouchers as well, I know that you go there for your petrol. Just in case that is handier for you, I would check it out. xx
I read on the Grocery Challenge thread that Mr T accepted them last time around, but haven't seen confirmation of it this time.

Probably won't manage £30 of fuel (even if they take them against that) until week 5 anyway - have only put £107.71 into the tank so far this year, which (given my last fill up was 6th May) is 18 weeks giving an average of £5.98/week. So £30 is just over 6 weeks, making fill-up date around 17th June.

    Cheryl,

Loved your comment 'while I'd struggle to spend £30 myself'...After all my time here, I still wouldn't struggle to spend £30 anywhere.
I did a shop at Mr T back in Oct/Nov when they were offering 5p off each litre of fuel if you sent £50 or more in store..... I'd never found it so difficult to spend £50, and ended up stock-piling tea-bags and toilet rolls - and still had to treat myself to a CD to get there !!! (So I effectively got about £2 off the CD, as I wouldn't have saved that on petrol without buying the CD :rolleyes2 )

Today's the 17th, and so far this month I've spent exactly £58 on groceries - which averages out at just £23.88 a week !!! As I now have more than enough rice and pasta to see us into 2010 I can't stock-pile any more of those. Ditto baked beans, tinned tomatoes and almost certainly tinned tuna. Also enough pure orange (and other juices) for at least a couple of months, ditto toilet rolls. And enough tea-bags for 3 or 4 months (thanks to App Foods). I don't even have much freezer space to stock up on stuff in those - though I should manage to get some pork chops/steaks in, which would make up a reasonable amount of the £30 for week 1 ;)

Hi everyone, Im slinking back with my tail between my legs ........ forgive me nyk for I have sinned ........

Unfortunately, my budget has got a little hijacked by one small area and is now wildly out of control ............... takeaways! It started when I came out of hospital and now its getting worse - I think we spend more on this than we do on food. Although it is very yummy, if I dont call a halt to this, we will be fatter than said minke whale, and have lost all cooking skills! So, hence forth and so on .............. I will be a domestic goddess, I will be a domestic goddess, I will be a domestic goddess. I pledge to regularly post on this forum and be very very good - I lurk every day, but rarely post - although I have to say the last 24 hours have been very disturbing. Although I dont post often, I read every day, and really love the warm caring and family feel of this thread. It would be a shame if people who have not taken the trouble to read or understand any of this thread threatened that. I am not sure what KKPs purpose in posting on this thread is, but he has been extremely antagonistic to some very well liked regular posters and has had no point to make other than random negative comments. I would ask him to either join in with the ethos of this thread or b*****r off somewhere else (pardon my language). I am probably speaking out of turn myself, as I myself rarely post but I like this thread.

so can we expect regular updates on what you've been cooking then?

my 'domestic goddess' crown just about stays teetering when it comes to cooking reasonably balanced main meals for us, but hits the floor with a serious 'thud' then it comes to the h****w**k side of things

    - Oh my god, I really will have to stick to it then, wont I!!

Tomorrow we are having the cold remains of todays roast with salad. Yes, I did cook today:A, but we went shopping this morning, and I just happened to walk past starbucks ...... (£15.80)

I will be having a baguette tomorrow, but I go before 11.30 and get the special - I cant miss it cos its my weekly trip out with Step dad and he really looks forward to it but its only £2.50. Its the starbucks/macdonalds and weatherspoons which is bad. So I am NOT going to have any of these at all this week!
