I've got 2 true friends. One's my cousin and the other I don't see as often as I'd like to - in fact might ring her and see if we can get together.

Is is more that you LET them bring you down? Do you ever stand up for yourself and say no, don't treat me that way? (I know I'm hardly one to talk on that count :o)
I'm not scared to stand up to them but it ends up in a row and he starts crying and ranting and is abusive. He has this hard done by attitude as well. I would do more but he depresses me so much ~ I can't function.

I hope you are not scared to stand up to your family.

No but it often ends up in a row and sometimes I can't face the sulks afterwards (not sulks by me)

It took me many years and having left home to stand up to my dad and tell him not to swear at me :o

Simple - he sulks, he gets ignored, so don't include him. He knows it bugs you and will use it to keep you miserable.

Tell your dad to eff off if he talks to you like that again:mad:

Basically, I owe lots of money, have just enough for bills each month - no money for holidays or even weekends away. Feel guilty for going out for the day coz I ought to be spending the money on food, petrol etc etc. Buy my clothes in charity shops (which actually I quite enjoy).

What I want to do is go out and spend money - lots of it - on things just for me that I want - not food for anyone else or petrol or stuff like that, but I'd just feel guilty and I don't have the money anyway.

Hi just a quick question for non-medial opinions from those who suffer....

When it is classed as depression?
When should you see your doctor regarding it?

I'm not suicidal, not self harming, carrying on with daily life but just fed up, sick of most things (apart from home/family life), snappy, tearful and stressy and really bored of my job. I know it's probably grief (recent family bereavement) and to be honest I don't want to go on tablets anyway as I've been told you can't take anti-hisitimine with it and I suffer really badly from hayfever :o

But I don't seem to be having many "better" days :o

Hi newlywed and welcome :) I'm very sorry to hear of your loss. I would say in general if you feel you are not coping as well as usual, for whatever reason, then go and have a chat with your GP. Depression and mental health issues vary from one person to the next, so I'm always wary of advocating 'checklists' of symptoms. As CC mentioned, it might be worth considering counselling for bereavement - again something the GP can advise you on. If you haven't done so already, perhaps you could have a look at Cruse Bereavement Care's website.

    Take care hun.

    Love,
