Would your OH happily come with you? If he can offer support whilst you're there and would want to come, then try not to look on it as a wasted day's holiday :)

It is easier when you have someone with you. Hope it goes ok :)

Thanks for that. I think I may ask him to come with me. Its first thing in the morning so I suppose he hasn't got to take a whole day off anyway. I feel much better too knowing that I haven't got to sort out where to park as well as remembering everything I want to say at the appointment. My OH can make sure I haven't forgotten to tell the consultant anything.

Hope yours goes ok tomorrow too, Pipkin. Im sure some people think you are turning the tears on but I hate crying in front of people and it also means you can't have a proper conversation either.

Beachbeth, my neuro is the most unsympathetic person ever but I just try and think its her that has the problem not me

I think some of these professionals are brilliant at what they do but they just aren't good with people. I saw a gyneacologist (sp?) a few years ago and he was awful. He was very clinical and had the humanity of a vacuum cleaner. Its not that I wanted a good moan but it meant that I couldn't explain my pms symptoms to him properly and therefore was unable to discuss the best way forward.

Well I'm back from the doctors. Got to increase one medication and decrease one of the others. I am so fed up with it all, some days I feel like stopping them all together.
I can't have anti D's as they react with my other meds but the doctor thinks I'm ok because I always put on my "I'm fine face"

    Now I feel rubbish :(

would you ignore your doctor who treated you for cancer if he hadn't had cancer himself.

AB is neither medically trained to treat depression nor does he understand it. A medically trained doctor may not understand what its like to have cancer but he knows enough theory to treat it. AB knows how to do hypnotherapy. This does not mean he is qualified to advise people about how to manage or treat their depression. You only have to look at the last few pages of the previous depression thread to see how he upset a lot of people.

(((hugs))) sazzy, really sorry to hear the sad news of your friends mum. glad you are finding the counselling helpful. i didnt find it helped me, more that the councellor felt helpless, that she couldnt help :rotfl:mainly because mine is caused by the stress of looking after two kids with special needs, with no help. must say that the night off from the kids, has left me feeling more positive today, hoping it lasts.
been to physio this morning, and it wasnt as bad as i expected, gotta go back in two weeks

Well I dont know how you know his qualifications. If you don't know for sure it is dangerous to say things that may not be true. I have learnt quite a bit about my depression from him. Many private therapists upset people. My own therapist often upset me but eventualy he explained all he was doing was making me change rather than letting me use my emotions to make him change his treatment.

How do you know his qualifications? I could say Im a qualified dentist but it doesn't mean I am. Besides anyone can set themselves up as a hypnotherapist or therapist. Trying to act as therapist online to people you don't know is a very dangerous thing. Your own therapist saw you regularly face to face and knew various things about you to enable him to help you. AB knows nothing about anyone here

A few posts ago I merely mentioned something that had been said on another thread in DT without mentioning names. Then Pipkin told everyone here that I was referring to AB (I was referring to other people not just him). I am not here to start bashing AB or anyone else. It has been turned into a discussion about AB which was not what I intended.

Starting to think I do have mild bouts of depression. Had it a lot last year, and the year before. And having a lot of it these last weeks :(

No, you didn't merely mention something that had been said on another thread.

    Allow me to remind you:

There is a certain person who regularly posts on DT who used to post a lot on this depression thread. He laughs at depression and is quite nasty about it. He thinks he is an expert on depression and yet doesn't understand it at all. He even put a link to a post someone made on these boards in quite a nasty way. The person who made the post wouldn't have known he did this and therefore had no opportunity to defend themselves against his accusations. I usually avoid posting anything to him directly because there is no point as he thinks he knows it all.

Many people feel he was wrong to post a link about someone else. You are equally wrong to talk about him in this way, without giving him the opportunity to defend himself.

I notice my comments have been deleted. Interesting.

You may not have mentioned ab's name, but people knew who you were talking about.

Should ab have the opportunity to defend himself against your accusations?

That's exactly what you did, as per the quoted post above.
