    Thanks for your replys everyone. Its nice to know that I have somewhere I can come to when I am down and no one will judge.

    Im quite happy that the whole festive thing is now over I dont know why but this time of year just seems to make things harder to cope, its like everyone else seems so happy and you feel so alienated because your not.

    Sazbo you are probably right, its easy to look at everything that is wrong and then it seems so huge, maybe if I deal with things one at a time it will seem more achievable. Now its just where to start.
    I do understand about feeling so alone in a room full of people, and how difficult it is to talk to those closest to you about things which you need to talk about.

    Whitevanwoman you are so right about being in a room full of people and feel alone. It was actually at my 2008 works christmas party when I decided I didnt wanna be here anymore. I have just never seemed to fit in anywhere, I think a lot of it comes down to self hatred and I kind of shut myself off from people without even realising it.

    Razorbladekisses the idea of writing a list is a good idea, I could do a long term one too to give me something to aim for. Having said that, I always have good intentions like these and just never seem to manage them. Like today I was gonna have a bath yet I am still here in my pyjamas.

    I guess this would all be easier if I knew what it was that makes me feel so empty all the time. I mean although there are a lot of things wrong there are also some good things in my life. I have the best parents in the world who I really dont deserve, I have the most beautiful and loyal dog who barely leaves me, I have fantastic nieces and nephews who I am close to yet I still have this hole. I partly think its because I used to have a great life, I used to travel the world with a friend and another friend who happened to be a superstar, then it turned out I was being used, for 3 years. It has destroyed my trust in people but even before that something with me was just not right.

    sorry, I know it all sounds stupid and mad and there are people in the world with bigger problems than me.

    Hi everyone. I usually hang out elsewhere on MSE. I only popped over to this board to research Slimming World and got a bit distracted by this thread.

    Am I right in thinking I cannot post the names of a couple of books which I have found very helpful? Does that count as discussing treatment?

    I haven't really had depression but I had some anxiety issues after being ill afer an operation. I read some CBT books aimed at anxiety/depression and found them very helpful, but I wouldn't want to post them to find my post deleted later.

    Hello trumpton. Not sure I'd assume your post would be deleted - but perhaps if you emailed one of the board guides then they can advise you?

    Happy New Year:)

    Had an OK New Year's Eve. My mum wasn't well and saw her New Year's Day after watching the Bournemouth Bicentennial fireworks which were lovely.

    So that's my duty visit done for a few days. She is so negative and depressing but after what she has been through recently, I have to tread carefully.
    An average day in my life:hello: :eek::mad: :coffee::coffee::coffee::T :o :rotfl: :rotfl: :p :eek::mad: :beer:

    Trumpton, I would be interested to know about the books. I don't think it is against the rules to mention books. Its just if you come here and say medication x does this and medication y does that. Obviously, you need to discuss medication with your doctor and not with people on the internet as what works for one may harm another.

    trumpton, thanks for dropping in on us. I think beachbeth is right, you should be ok to mention books on here. If not, I'd appreciate it if you could send the names of them to me via PM :)
