    Hi everyone,
Sorry to just barge in....Just when i was starting to feel I knew what to do to manage my mental health (workout every day) I found out I'm 6wks pg.
I swing from being really happy to really panicking...I don't want to be involved with the CPN again as after seeing her for 18mo she started to feel very intimidating. I stopped seeing her 6mo ago and felt much stronger for it.
I haven't booked a midwife appointment as I know they're going to refer me to the perinatal psychiatric team again and I just don't want to go down that route again. They did help but I thought I was home and dry and that that was in the past.

Dr says my chances of having PND again are higher due to past history and as I am still on ADs wants to confer with psychiatric consultant who scared the living daylights out of me last time, telling me stuff like I'd have to choose between breastfeeding and treating my depression and trying to get me to make that decision when I was 39wks pregnant. He also told me that the ADs I had been on for the entire pregnancy might damage the baby (a bit late to tell me then really, what the heck could I do about it at that stage?![smilie=013.gif] During the birth, bc of that idiot, I actually thought the baby had died)

I'm glad and feel blessed to have this baby in me but part of me is so worried about going from 2 to 3 children. When this baby is born my sons will be 4y9m and 30mo.
It sounds stupid but I feel that I only have 2 hands = 1 for each of my sons and what will I do when I have 3 kids?? I'm a very hands-on mummy and play lots/do lots of crafts/cuddle lots with my kids. I know others mums of 2+kids but I never see them interact with their kids...maybe that's just their style and nothing to do with quantity of kids?

I think I just want to be left alone to have my baby behind a bush without blasted medical staff making unhelpful predictions!
I also feel that people are thinking: 'She's going to have another one??? She can barely cope with two!!!' I know that sounds paranoid but that's the impression I get from some people.

Congratulations if you have read all this. Sorry to go on so much.

  • I can't help you but there's something in your post that is bugging me.I've been signed off sick for 3 months with depression and yesterday my doctor signed me off for another 2 months in one hit.She has only signed me off a month at a time before.I've also got an appointment to see a psychiatrist for the first time in my life. What can i expect?

morning all, hope everyone is as well as can be
npsmama, congratulations on your pregnancy,i dont know what advie to offer, just to let you know that you arn't on your own, and we are all here to support you, and be a listening ear whenever you need it.
me and my partner are also trying for another child, and i'm also on AD's and i too worry bout what would happen, eg i too have been told pnd is more likely since i have suffered depression since the birth of my twins 14 years ago. i struggle at times with them too, (they have special needs) and neeed a lot of hands on attention, playing games etc, But i long for another child, as does my partner, who is very supportive.
is your OH supportive, have you told him your fears?
    hugs

Congratulations, npsmama. My feeling is that it doesn't matter what other people think. It's what you think that matters. I would let your instincts be your guide, do what you feel is right for you and don't let other people try and persuade you otherwise. And as Shaz says, please post here any time.

Brightfan - welcome to the thread - I've not seen a psychiatrist myself, so can't really help with that, other than to say I would like to think it is an opportunity for you to discuss your needs and how best you can be supported. Best of luck with it.

Hi Shaz - how are you today? xx Ethelbomber - I shall be emailing you shortly:D

Big hi to everyone :hello: Hope you're all doing ok. It's friday yay! :j :)

    Much love,
    Sazzy xxxxxxxxxxxx
