    Chocolate custard and chocolate icing?

I'll add your thread to the first link later to keep the recipes together.

When I used to make chocolate custard at work I just heated normal custard, grated some milk chocolate and stirred it in.

A rounded teaspoon of cocoa added to a bog standard custard mix works too. :)

Add dry ingredients and mix, make a paste with a small amount of milk, add remaining milk... and well, you all know the drill.

A square or two of chocolate, grated, does make it richer - but isn't a must do.

  • My Ds1 called chocolate custard, chocolate soup when he was wee. Not relevant at all, but might make you smile :)

am trying to put together a black forest trifle out of store cupboard ingredients, never made chocolate custard before but would this work? (in fact never made custard full stop!)

1 tin ready made custard, couple of spoonfuls cocoa (til it tastes chocolately), bring to the boil, add some gelatin and leave to set?

thanks in advance for your answers, donna x

I think the cocoa would work, but why the gelatine?
