Hi, this is the Daily Thread for Sunday 29th March 2009. This is an 'Over the garden fence' type thread where we chat about everything Old Style and maybe a little bit more. It’s a great, inspiring and motivating thread we start each day to discuss what Old Style things we’re going to do today or what we’ve achieved already. Everyone’s welcome, please do come in, put your feet up (although check the fence hasn’t just been painted first!) and join us for an Old Style natter. The more the merrier!
As this is the Old Style Board, it would be appreciated if posts could include some Old Style content. Please be aware that many people may have small screens, or slow internet connections, so please don’t post large pictures, or clip art – links are preferred.
When you make a post, if you feel like giving it a title, that will help others that don’t have the time to read everything skim through the thread quickly, but if not, it's not a problem.
Please do not start a new daily thread before you go to bed at night because this often leaves things confusing with two Daily Threads live at the same time. The idea is that a member would start each new Daily Thread after they get up in the morning.
Some people who chat here like to try to answer everyone. Don’t feel you have to though, a general “Hi everyone, hope you are all well” type start is just as good!
Morning peeps
the weather forecast was correct! its absolutely bloomin freezing here.
Last night i went out with a couple of bags of 2 litre plastic bottles (empty ones of course):D i had chopped the bottoms off so i popped them over the tops of my fruit shrubs which have started to get lovely green shoots on them. Hopefully they have survived the thick frost.
I popped down to the greenhouse and opened one of the windows but left the second one closed, one window is usually permanently open to let the air circulate but as the plants have been used to much warmer temperatures i decided to close it up completely last night to protect them, maybe later i shall be able to open the other window when i get home from w*rk.
The wm was emptied earlier and all the laundry is now on the radiator airers, it seems strange as i`ve just got used to hanging it all on the line outside which is much better. DH is in charge of emptying the dw and walking the houndies this morning before he sets off on another fishing trip so hopefully i won`t have very much to do later.
Tea tonight will be something simple as i can`t usually be bothered just for me so there is a good chance that i shall end up with a sandwich or toast. I need to make soup either today or tomorrow so i could end up with that which would be nice.
((((HUGS)))) for Morwenna & Meanmarie
I shall make another cuppa and do some more w*rk.
Have a good day everyone, keep warm.

Morning Sunnyday & all to follow
Beautiful clear blue sky outside the window - but definitely a tad crispy here too!! Hopefully it will warm up a little later.
Did everyone change their clocks?! It's strange that it's 8am already...
DW on here as well now, think I'll do the sheets off my bed after that & hopefully hang them outside.
Forgot to get chicken out of the freezer to defrost (d'oh!) so an alternative for supper must be found...
Other than that no major house stuff to do (or I'm not going to do it anyway!) so more studying is lined up... Might pop out & meet a friend for a lunchtime coffee to have a break from it.
Off to read the end of yesterday's but meantime ((((hugs))))) to all needing them.Live your life until love is found, or love's gonna get you down" (credit to Mika!)0 -
Good morning good folks.
Last night, the B.M. made the evening meal, Pizza dough, well O.K. I turned it into Pizza, but it was really easy. It was the first trial of our frozen batch of Mennonite Pizza sauce (very tasty) and I added some of the Costco ready grated Mozzarella, frozen in portions a while ago. The combo did the rest.
I'm in "sunny" Yorkshire too, we've had a frost, but its all very bright & spring like now.
Any advice on locating some primulas or similar to brighten up the garden. I tidied it up last week, and its looking a bit bare. I thought of Morrison's, We have most of the major stores locally inc. Aldi & Lidl (don't know if they qualify as major).
Still have some planning to do for school, and trying to fit in a visit to D.S. in Fort William during the coming Easter holiday .... again any advice on places to stay up there (Me, D.H. and my mother) would be very welcome.
Trying not to use the central heating during the day at weekends now its officially "Summertime" so freezing legs under this 'ere desk.

Morning all
Very bright here but cold with it. Bm and wm on the sun shining through has shown my windows up today I am afraid, so that is now added to todays list. DS-D has just rung to say that her little boy has started with chicken pox so need to do a run to get calamine lotion when shops open - poor thing!!
DD1 is supposed to be calling round today with SIL2B so I have made them a hm loaf and some hob nobs to take home with them. Might take some to DS-D when we take the calamine as I did rather go overboard yest with baking and haven't even got enough tins to store things in!
Hope you are all feeling well and healthy. Hugs to all who need them - have a nice Sunday xx"Keep smiling, it makes people wonder what you are up to........"Dieting ........... is no piece of cake!!!!:D

Good Morning
Didnt catch up with yesterdays thread so ((((hugs)))) to anyone who needs/wants one.
I shall look forward to the lighter evenings but I hate losing that hour today!
Anyway, house is cleaner, ironing pile is smaller - will clear it this morning. Have a lovely half leg of lamb will do a very late lunch methinks. We have fields opposite our house and apparantly the police are training their dogs over there this afternoon and are more than happy for people to watch so might wander over there.
Off now for a surf then a nice relaxing bath.
Have a lovely relaxing Sunday.

Morning all!
Hugs to all who need/want them!
Tried to post last night while babysitting, but my sister's laptop ate my post when I previewed it
Quite OS yesterday - stripped, washed and remade bed, returned books to library, took hammer to freezer compartment (removed washing up bowl full of ice) and took eldest niece to the park.
DB rang yesterday to find out what time the library closed, and then said that he was coming round to use my loo - he gets more like Dad every day!
So far today, I have put all the clocks forward, put the first load of laundry on, joined the April Grocery Challenge and overpaid £20 off the mortgage - every little helps!
Need to write my shopping list and try to stay within remnant of personal Grocery Challenge for the month, and do the second load of laundry. Lunch, tea and tomorrow's packed lunch will have to come in there somewhere, and perhaps some cross stitch. Will report back tonight.
Have a good day - hope the sun is shining on you.

Good morning all. Have not caught up with the past week's threads yet so sending hugs to all who want/need them.
Bright sun here this morning but I've not ventured out yet to feel the temp. Still sitting here with my coffee, in my pajamas and piglet slippers.
DH had to go in to work today as one of the guys at the base had a family emergency and has flown back to India. So his work schedule is a bit up in the air at the moment. He should know for the rest of this week by when he comes home this evening.
Other than cooking, I've not been very OS this past week. Well, with the exception of Thurday with the grand sorting of things. DH has still not recovered.
Tea tonight will be something from the freezer but I have no idea what yet.
Hoping all have a peaceful and restful day.

Morning All - cold and crisp here in Essex today - sun's out at the moment and hopefully will stay that way.
Just had a slice of toast and marmite for breakfast.......might go back in a second for another with peanut butter as I saw the jar in the cupboard when I got the marmite out and it's now calling to me.......! Lunch will be Teviot pie, roast pots and veggies. Tea I don't have a clue about yet....although I might take some cheese & bacon muffins from the freezer and add some crisps, chutney and the last of a piece of whoops'ed Port Salut cheese....we're doing well on the "using stuff up" front!
We've got to sort the car out today - a total clear out and hoover right through, then put back only what is needed and clean the outside. It mnight get a polish, but that depends on how cold it is out there......other than that I have a fish pie to assemble for Tuesday night's dinner, must get the component parts out of the freezer when I go to the kitchen. Then just general sorting out I think - if I manage to declutter enough bits to make a trip to the charity shop worthwhile I'll do that as well.
I did well yesterday with Flylady - managed to get three days completed so not bad. I probably won't get any more finished today now although as we'll have the hose outside we might do the windows on that side of the flat while we're out there. We'll see.

Morning all,
Cold but bright here, very cold in fact. I got up in the early hours to use the loo and goodness  the house was freezing, i was shivering and went in and checked dd was covered up, then ran back and put my cold feet on OHwho did not ever stir  .
I thought I was up quite early for a sunday about 8.20, but really its was 9.20, so have lost that hour, will have to get dd up in a mo or she wont sleep tonight.
Going off to the carboot sale this morning, and dd is off to my parents to help them de clutter, it takes my dear mum an age to get up and down the stairs but dd can whip up and down, mum is giving dd a £5 for helping to they are both happy.
Roast pork and all the trimmings for lunch, and I need to make some cakes and biscuits later, I am very excited as I ordered a silicone tray bake from amazon, and some silicone cup cases, which can be used over and over, so i shall be trying those today. (what an exciting life I live !!!)
Our bed has been stripped and is in the wm, and i will have a quick tidy through. Will get little dog out for a nice walk later.
OH is going to mix me up some cement, and teach me how to re grout the tiles in the conservatory, then I just have the wobbly tiles on the patio to sort and we can go on the market :T and I can seriously start looking around for somewhere to buy, very very excited by this.
Hugs to Morwenna and Marie xx
Have good days all xx0 -
Beautiful sunshine here, but we have ice in the bird bath in the garden.
It was freezing last night.Hopefully we'll get good warm weather from now on.That's me always the optimist.
OH was up early to watch the grand-prix,he got back into bed freezing so now I'm up and he's sprawled out snoring his head out.
Today I have got lots to do,my garden is covered in litter and looks an eyesore. Those high winds blew everything everywhere.Thats going to be my first job and then the windows need doing, the laundry ect ect.
So much to catch up on,but at least I've finished my course of antibiotics so no more pills and I feel on top of the world again.
I hope you all have a realy nice day,it may be cold but at least it's sunny and that's always a benefit.Makes me feel better.
Take care all....0 -
Morning all
I've been up ages, watched the GP, WM is on for the 3rd time, 1st 2 loads are on the line, it's cold, bright & windy so hopefully it will all dry.
I really need to blitz the kitchen today & make some cakes for work tomorrow. Hubby want's to go & get some new tshirts for work, but we may not bother as it's the half marathon today & loads of roads are closed.
No idea what we're eating today, I need to have a scrummage in the freezer.
Have a good day.
Hugs Hester
